Kyoko didn't release the barrier that was around even though the barrier that Yukio formed was back up.

She just stood there looking in the direction that this evil energy had come from.

After a moment of silence, she took my hand and stepped forward.

I was surprised to see this, so I asked, "Where are you going?"

Kyoko kept looking forward as she said, "Unless I take a look at what it is, I have no idea what I'm dealing with. So I'm going to take a look at this thing. You'll come with me since I can protect us better if you're with me."

I was surprised to hear this, but I quickly understood what she meant.
