Gray

I sat on the bed and placed the box next to me before taking off its cover. The grey Dream peeked from behind it before finally jumping out and scanning the area around it. " You're surely a strange Dream."

I took it in my hands and looked at it carefully. It seemed very cold and without any feelings. " I think I'm naming you Gray then. From now on, your name will be Gray. Is that good with you?"

Still, it was cold and didn't give any sign of happiness like the other Dreams. " Just what type of Dreams are you?"

I sighed and placed it back in the box before returning it on the desk. I looked at the empty white paper that was supposed to be my homework. " A Dream, huh."

A smile crossed my face as I thought about the idea of getting a Dream finally. Not Gray, I mean my future Dream, the one I will be getting in exchange for Gray. " I better get a box for my future Dream."

I brought a box and started decorating it. I couldn't believe that I was finally preparing my own Dream box. Dream boxes are where Dreams live. You can think of them as dolls' houses and things like that where you keep your pets or the things you love.

Gray picked from behind the brown box and started jumping towards me. It stared at the box I was decorating for my Dream for a few seconds before jumping in it. " Gray no! That's not for you! Get out now!"

I picked it and placed it back inside its box, but as soon as I turned my back to it, the grey furry ball jumped out and to the other box again. " Gray! That's my Dream's box! Get out!"

I placed it in its box again and covered it before going back to decorating my Dream box. When I was finally done, Mom came in to call me for dinner.

I took my place and Mom served us. " How was school?" Dad asked me. " Fine. But there is something I need to tell you..."

They looked at me with confused eyes, I usually don't speak a lot and don't have something to tell them most of the time, so they couldn't help but be worried and think the worst when I said that. I reassured them with a small smile. " Things will change from now on. I now have a Dream."

Their eyes widened in shock. " You have a Dream! How did you get it?" Dad questioned me.

" I helped the Dreams' old man one night and he offered me a Dream as a thank you." They exchanged worried looks when I said that. " Mom, Dad, do not worry. I have a Dream now, everyone will be happy."

" The most important thing is that you're happy, son," Dad said.

" We don't care about any other thing but you." Mom said as she walked to me and placed a kiss on my forehead. Well that... That made me blush. I wasn't a kid anymore so she didn't have to do so. But that doesn't mean I didn't like it.

I didn't tell my parents about the deal of taking care of Gray. Assuming that it would be an easy task and that I would be getting my future Dream soon, I went ahead and told them about my plans for my future Dream. How I would make it live in that extravagant box I was making for it, how I would be cuddling it every night as I go to sleep. I can't wait to get it...
