Ch 57: The smell of a burn [pt3]

Meria felt tongue-tied as soon as he heard the doctor's words.

'How do I respond when someone flirts with me? This has never happened, so I feel out of my depths.'

Meria closed his eyes, and his head spun before he realised he was still upside down.

The doctor realised it when Meria did, but he was nice enough not to say anything to him.

Instead, he helped Meria stand upright again and supported him.

"I should head out to check up on the Saintess now. She might be waiting for me and-"

"NO! I-I mean, the Saintess was sleeping the last time I checked her room, so you should not disturb her. Other people here might have gotten hurt during this time, right? So, you should help them out."

Meria tried to distract the doctor so that he would not go and check up on the Saintess.

The doctor looked suspicious but decided to acknowledge Meria's efforts.

However, it was not in a way that Meria appreciated.
