Three days earlier
"Kenjaku's third cursed technique is anti-gravity."
In the Star Tomb, within a small room fashioned to Tengen's liking, Itadori, Choso, Yuki, and Tengen himself were seated around a table, the warm air from the tea in their cups rising and quickly dissipating due to a faint breeze.
The revelation, which seemed sudden at first, caused everyone except Itadori, the one who had spoken, to exchange surprised glances.
Even Tengen was genuinely surprised that the boy knew this information, but even more curious about how he had discovered it.
"How do you know?" Yuki asked skeptically. How could Itadori know this when Kenjaku had been unknown to everyone until just weeks ago? She didn't feel she could distrust him, but still, such crucial information being dropped on them so suddenly…
Itadori, who didn't respond immediately, picked up his cup and sipped his tea with a calm expression.
Choso raised an eyebrow at this, realizing what his brother was trying to do. "Stop trying to look mysterious, Yuji…"
"!..." Itadori's eye twitched, and as he set the cup down, he turned to Choso with a hint of irritation. "Stop ruining my moment."
Choso smiled at this, unfazed by the boy's glare. As the older brother, it was his job to embarrass the younger one when necessary.
Sigh.
"Alright…" Itadori shook his head in disappointment. "It's nothing major. As you know, I took Mahito's technique and used it to access memories I normally wouldn't be able to recall."
"Like… memories from when you were just a newborn?" Yuki asked in surprise.
"No, before that."
Choso's eyes widened in realization. "When you were a fetus?!"
Itadori glanced at his brother for a moment, then took another sip of tea before continuing.
"Not quite. With a slight modification to my brain, I accessed memories from a month before my birth and shortly after. From there, I sifted through those memories until I found some clues about Kenjaku."
Choso blinked in recognition. "So you found out that Kenjaku took over your da-"
"My mother."
"..."
Silence enveloped the four. Itadori avoided their gazes, while Choso and Yuki blinked slowly.
"Mm!" Yuki cleared her throat, crossing her arms over her chest as a small, mocking smile formed on her lips. "Well, as they say… all for the plan."
Her words carried a mocking tone, and to Yuji's shock, Choso responded in kind. "Sometimes people take that too literally…"
Their eyes met, and Yuki couldn't help but smile as if holding back a laugh, Choso's lips trembling for a moment before seriousness returned to their faces.
What… was that? Itadori wondered in astonishment.
"Right, and then…?"
With Tengen prompting Itadori to continue, the young sorcerer composed himself while pushing aside his questions about his brother's relationship.
"And then, with those memories, I was able to discover that my mother's body's technique was anti-gravity."
Tengen nodded, his arms crossed as he seemed to ponder the information. "And how can we be sure that this is indeed his third technique?"
"Consider it a guess, but it seems like a useful technique. I doubt Kenjaku would discard it so easily."
A lie. His meta-knowledge shone through at this moment. Memories from a baby? Nonsense. Itadori had simply crafted a backstory to reveal crucial information without having to disclose that he was actually a transmigrator from another world.
And from the looks on everyone's faces in the room, it seemed to have worked.
The last thing he wanted was an angry god because he revealed too much… And besides, there was no need to share such unsettling information. It would be risky, especially given their current situation.
"I can see that." Tengen nodded, his expression grateful. "Thank you for telling us. This will be a great help."
"No need to thank me. We're all comrades here." Itadori waved his hand.
But as they each processed this information, Yuji turned to Choso with a serious expression.
"Choso."
This caught the blood user's attention, and he turned to his brother with curiosity.
"Don't do anything stupid while I'm not here."
.
Present.
Choso, standing in the middle of a white expanse that seemed to stretch infinitely with a small tree beside him, smiled faintly as he recalled the worried words of his younger brother.
It warmed his heart to know that the brother he loved so much was so concerned for him.
He wished he could say he wouldn't do anything stupid, but in his current situation, that was impossible.
Because his job was to wear Kenjaku down as much as possible before Yuki joined the battle. Forcing him to expand his domain seemed like nothing more than a dream, but if he could somehow push him to do so, then he could die knowing that Yuki was capable of killing the source of all evil.
His life didn't matter, as long as he could kill the one who cursed his mother. To avenge his two brothers and protect Yuji from this demon's clutches, Choso would give it his all, even if it meant dying in the process.
Because that's what it meant to be an older brother.
He had failed before, but now, he had a chance to redeem himself.
And he wouldn't let this chance slip through his fingers.
Crack!
When a shattering sound echoed, Choso closed his eyes and took a deep breath, letting the air escape his lips with a serene expression.
When footsteps approached, he didn't even need to open his eyes to know who stood before him. That aura… he could now sense and recognize it even from miles away.
"..Oh."
A surprised tone, Choso noted.
"The face of a dead man, is that what I'm seeing now?"
Choso's eyes opened at these words, his vision filled with a smug Geto who wore a mocking smile, as if Choso's presence was nothing more than entertainment.
"If you're looking at yourself in a mirror, then I can answer yes." Choso replied with a hint of venom, but Kenjaku didn't seem to care as he curiously looked around.
"Where's Tengen?"
"The bigmouth doesn't want to see you."
"I see… So you're the disposable one. Well, that's fine. At least try to entertain me a little."
A vein popped on Choso's forehead, but he didn't let his hatred get the better of him as he continued to glare at the curse user.
"Tell me, what's your plan for Yuji?"
Kenjaku blinked. "That's your first question? I thought you'd want to-"
"Just answer me already."
"Oh, fine, fine." Kenjaku pouted, but this only served to further irritate Choso. "Previously, I didn't have anything specific in mind for him. A catalyst for the chaos that was Sukuna in his body, he was just that. Until…"
Choso narrowed his eyes. "Until?"
"Well, he developed a very interesting technique, perhaps the one with the most potential among all." Kenjaku stuck out his tongue playfully, his hands raised as if his words were nothing more than a joke. "So, I guess I'll take his body for myself."
Choso's teeth clenched so hard they might have cracked, his nails digging into his palms until blood began to drip onto the floor. The veins on his forehead bulged, and fury seemed to course through his body.
"As if I'd let you, you damn bastard." With blood forming into a sphere in an instant, Choso clenched his hands around it and pointed it at Kenjaku. "Noritoshi Kamo, your life…"
!
Kenjaku raised an eyebrow at this, not seeming the least bit intimidated by the threatening demeanor of the death painting.
"Ends here!"
Bam!
The blood shot toward the curse user like an arrow, who merely sighed in disappointment. "If you're going to attack me with just that…"
But just as the attack seemed about to hit him, Kenjaku elegantly sidestepped, the blood passing by him as he advanced toward Choso without a second thought.
"Then I won't waste time on you."
Choso's eyes widened as Kenjaku closed the distance between them in an instant, his hands releasing the blood thread that extended far away as he prepared to defend himself.
Bam!
A punch landed squarely on his face, but the death painting didn't falter as he tried to grab his opponent's wrist, only for a heavy kick to strike his torso with enough force to send blood flying from his mouth.
Kenjaku, determined to press the attack, stopped abruptly when he noticed Choso's eyes glaring at him mockingly, his instincts making him move fast enough to summon a curse that shielded him from an explosion of blood that flew from Choso's mouth.
"Tsk!" Choso spat, and retreating a few steps, he joined his hands to prepare another piercing blood shot.
"How boring."
But just as he began to prepare, his eyes widened as countless centipede curses restrained him in place.
"Don't waste my time…"
Bam!
Choso choked as Kenjaku propelled himself forward and struck him with a punch to the stomach.
"With a failure like you!"
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
A flurry of attacks struck Choso from all sides, Kenjaku knocking him down and stomping on his face with enough force to crack the ground beneath.
"Failure?" Choso murmured, unable to look directly at Kenjaku. "The only failure here is you, damn it!"
"Ugh…" At this response, Kenjaku groaned in boredom, his gaze turning to the white horizon. "At least try to be creative with your comebacks."
Bam!
With a wave made of hundreds of curses, Kenjaku sent Choso flying, slamming him into the ground with such force that it shattered the floor.
"Even with low-grade curses, if I enhance them a bit, it's more than enough for a sorcerer like you… What a disappointment."
Lying completely motionless, a wounded Choso struggled to stay conscious, blood dripping from his mouth as a sign of extensive internal damage.
I've failed again.
With his eyes turned to the white sky, Choso thought of defeat. He felt the strength leaving his body, and the will of his spirit shaken by this crushing defeat.
After all he had promised himself and his brothers, only to be humiliated like this…
Brothers… Yes, his brothers.
Choso's fingers clenched, his strength slowly returning to his body as he fought to stand.
His brothers were counting on him. He couldn't just give up now.
For Yuji, Eso, Kechizu, and all his other brothers still trapped as cursed fetuses by this man, he would keep fighting.
So he could only ask…
"Lend me your strength, my brothers!"
Crack!
The attention of both was drawn when another shattering sound echoed, Kenjaku turning toward the source of the noise, expecting Yuki to finally appear and join the battle.
But instead, he seemed surprised when someone completely unfamiliar appeared before his eyes, confusion taking over his features.
With a vibrant red chain wrapped around his forearm and a white dress shirt that barely concealed the countless tattoos covering his body, this new figure exuded a deadly aura, especially when his eyes met Kenjaku's.
"B-B…" But the one who didn't seem intimidated was Choso, who looked at this figure with trembling eyes.
The sensation in his blood boiled, a feeling he recognized but one that seemed much stronger now. There was no way he was mistaken. With just one look, he could tell who this figure was.
"Brothers!"
Tanshoku smiled as Choso recognized him as his brother. The blood connection between them was more than enough to convey the feelings of brotherhood, making everything they needed to know clear.
"We're here, big brother!"
"...Huh?"
Kenjaku watched the situation with confusion, feeling out of place in this moment.
"Let's end Noritoshi Kamo, together!"
Yes, at least that much he could understand.
