Trial

"Furthermore, the kills of those you slay will be transferred to you," he added, a faint grin tugging at the corner of his lips. As his words settled in, beads of sweat formed on the brows of the weaker cultivators, and some of them started to walk away. At the forefront, a young and robust man turned his head to survey the assembly, his gaze oozing with disdain. With a scornful curl of his lip, he sneered, "Trash!".

Amidst the gathering, a few heads lowered in shame, while some retorted against the young man's arrogance. "Who do you think you are to judge us?" they shouted back. "Haven't you heard? Only 10 can make it through alive!" The strapping youth shot back with a derisive grin, "Means there'll be 9 lucky ones spared from being butchered by this king."

A group of cultivators lunged at the young man. Unfazed, he grabbed his axe. "Today, you'll learn to shut your mouth," they yelled. One added, "But today is your last day."

Dobroslav watched without moving from the sidelines. He glanced at Mo Sheng, who wore a dark smile but showed no intention of stepping in.

As the young men swung their weapons, the youth grunted and slashed his axe horizontally. In a blink, he appeared behind his attackers.

The bewildered young men, expecting their moment of glory, found themselves frozen, unable to move.

The young man turned to face his enemies. "Hmph! Trash is still trash."

"You dare?!" they shouted back, but suddenly their vision descended, darkening as it approached the ground.

Too late, they realised their predicament. Their upper bodies plummeted while their legs remained frozen in place.

In that brief clash, the young man cut them in half.

Witnessing the fight, many cultivators were baffled by how it occurred, but one thing was clear - they would likely meet a similar fate if they dared to attack him.

"10 points to Lu Ye," Mo Sheng declared with indifference.

"I did not give you my name!" retorted Lu Ye.

The old master made a slapping motion through the air. In the next moment, Lu Ye tumbled several dozen meters in the direction of the slap.

"Learn some manners, young man." he chuckled.

Dobroslav observed Lu Ye and remarked, "Even beasts respect their elders." His expression twisted in disgust, he then turned to Mo Sheng and inquired, "Great Elder Mo Sheng, may we pass through the gate?"

Mo Sheng, surprised, asked, "Impressive. You've never been here before, but you recognise me?"

"Of course. Your glory is widely known throughout the whole province," Dobroslav said with respect. "You slew a myriad of demons and cut down the demon general during the last demon invasion. At the time, you were only 25, yet your cultivation was already at rank 60."

Mo Sheng was very pleased with the praise. "Good! Good!"

Dobroslav and Xia bowed in unison. "Thank you for your kind words, Great Elder."

"The trial already started when you crossed the university gates; you may pass," he said, and as the words left his lips, the gates abruptly closed, trapping everyone inside.

"I see!" Dobroslav confirmed with a happy nod, drawing his sword and unleashing his full power.

Witnessing this, everyone else comprehended the urgency and sprinted toward the gate.

Before all cultivators could get through, limbs and heads flew.

"10 points to Dobroslav, 10 points to Xia," declared Mo Sheng.

As the Daemonhart pair closed in on the portal, just before crossing, Dobroslav glanced back at Lu Ye, still on the ground in the corner of the university's outer area. "Trash!"
