True war

"Human, why work with those wretched people? The gods can offer you all you want."

"Again with this, I thought you said I was insane?"

"This angel gives his word, nothing bad will befall you."

"What's your name? I Would like to know what to call my armor."

"I'm a low ranking angel, we don't have names. The greater kin can not enter without proper summoning."

"Is that so?"

Nick plunged headfirst back into combat. The angel wasn't bad at fighting itself. The gallant looking Hippogriff danced around the battle like he was on ice. It moved in, and attacked NIck's blind spots while staying away from his overwhelming attacks.

There was just no denying it, Nick was not a King, he's just barely considered a Lord. Even the special lords wouldn't gladly fight a creature one level ahead of them. But here Nick is trading brows with an angel, with the most stupid, godforsaken, pear jubilation grin on his face.

One of the key differences between monsters and humans is that monsters can't use magic. They can cast spells, but that's another story. Monsters' whole bodies naturally circulate magic, giving them increased strength, but they are not able to sharply manipulate it, like humans and animals are. Martial arts is the bridger of gaps, you could be like Hans and force magic to run through your skin kinda like monsters do. There are some who can control magic to such an extent it can be manipulated outside the body, like Lynx and Johny. Or you can use more traditional methods, like forcing magic into your attacks. Magic is such an important aspect that no one without it can surpass the level of commander. Even entering commander without magic is almost harder than killing a monster two levels above you. To a certain extent the use and control of magic is the basis for hunting monsters who are generally physically stronger. Mages are also important to a fight against monsters, although they are less common, their use of spells can often make them just as useful or more useful than two of those on the same level.

"o ifrinn o chian, thoir a mach lasair a chaitheas na diathan." A hooded man chanted.

Out came from a crack in the earth, a frame worthy of consuming gods. It burnt away at the angel, catching the monster ablaze. The monster ran around in pear terror.

"Reinforcements?" Nick questioned.

"Not quite, just a scout." A heavy voice, thick, with a deep almost understandable accent. The man pulled down his hood. His face is dented in, half his jaw is missing, and what should have been his left eye is crossed out. "I come with good news however. The Holy knight Blaze has chosen to support this fight."

Holy knights are big deals. There are only ever thirteen of them at one time. Each is given a regen to protect and maintain order. Blaze is the North American Holy knight. Unlike what their name may imply they are not selected by the church. Instead it was the khan himself who set it up. At the time they were his generals, but he did charge them with protecting the land. So to become one of the Holy knights you must be previously selected by a former Holy knight. Now you may say that this could cause a knight to just pick someone they care about to become the next knight, like perhaps their son. Well you would be right. However to stop complete corruption, if three or more Holy knights vote then they can remove a Knight who hasn't been in office for over two years. Then all the Holy knights will get together and vote who to replace the old one.

Holy knights have splintered off into teachings that the line is expected to follow.

The North American Holy knight's codex is power above all else.
