Starting at the 8th floor

The only light that I saw in the room was from lava some distance towards the ground. As I descended, dust and ashes stung my face as I accelerated to a terminal velocity.

I flattened my body like a pancake, and I slowed some. I gritted my teeth as my eyes adjusted and I realized I was about to hit the ground hard. I flared my Mana around my body like a shell.

I slammed against an ashen hill hard, and I descended through the densely packed ash fast. Eventually, my body hit something harder, stopped. I wrenched my back, but I had largely been cushioned by the tall layer of ash.

The ash just presented one problem, it was getting in my mouth as I huffed and puffed frantically. My feet scuttled blindly until they smashed hard against the bit of rock I had hit. I pushed myself up from the densely packed ash.
