The Deep

The room that awaits us is massive and open, with an endless span of crumbling architecture, scattered throughout the spacious underground chamber.

At some point this must have been a truly grand place, though I doubt any person in this world could guess what its purpose was anymore.

Even if archaeology were better practiced in this world, I doubt there's enough left of this place to figure very much about it out.

As we cross the room, I can't help but crane my neck to look up at the ceiling. The high arches above us are in danger of giving way, with multiple supports and walls already fallen away entirely.

The only way forward is a single bridge stretching over the central basin, with nothing to protect us from falling.

My stomach flips just looking down at the dark waters below. The way we came, with all its traps, is much less scary than this.
