It Won’t Backfire

Kimberly watched Melvin who had a concerned frown on his face as he watched Nathan hail a cab and get in.

"Don't worry too much. He will come around," Kimberly said, reaching out to touch his hand.

"He is very upset," Melvin said with a sigh.

"You can't blame him. It's normal to feel hurt when a trusted loved one is keeping secrets from you," Kimberly said reasonably.

"I understand that. I just wish things weren't so complicated. And I wish he would trust me enough to know I wouldn't be keeping this from him if it wasn't so complicated," Melvin said with a sigh.

"I'm sure he'd come around soon. And even if he doesn't, he would understand better why you had to keep things from him when you've explained things to him after we return to our bodies," she said and Melvin shook his head.

"Let's just go home," Melvin said and Kimberly returned to the road.
