After spending the afternoon at home, it was time for Olivia's dad to return.
"Simon, your daughter has done well for herself. She brought you a son-in-law with a golden background. Hurry home and take a look!"
Olivia's dad, who had just finished his classes, entered the neighborhood, greeted by familiar faces expressing envy and jealousy.
In this neighborhood dominated by elderly residents, people often gathered in the garden downstairs for activities like exercising and playing cards. Therefore, any news spread quickly.
Soon after Michael drove in with the LaFerrari, everyone learned that he was Olivia's husband. However, Olivia's dad remained unaware, forcing a reluctant smile.
Deep down, he wondered if Olivia had really been driven to find a wealthy son-in-law.
In Olivia's dad's opinion, Michael's family background was not exceptional, but it wasn't bad either. His dad had a stable job, his mom had an income, both were in good health, and they wouldn't burden the newlyweds with major issues after marriage.
While they might not provide much support in terms of cars and houses, Olivia's dad believed the couple could work hard for those things on their own.
However, Olivia's mom had a different opinion of Michael, persistently calling him a poor guy in Olivia's dad's ear.
In the past, Olivia's mom had been a beauty with many suitors and had only married him through arranged marriage by her parents. Feeling he was not as good as her previous suitors or her two brothers-in-law, he let her take charge in many aspects of their life.
Thus, when Olivia's mom expressed dissatisfaction with Michael, Olivia's dad dared not voice his opinion.
However, he feared Olivia's mom would push their daughter too hard, leading her down the wrong path. So, when he heard people in the neighborhood say his daughter had found a wealthy son-in-law, he wasn't excited, instead, he quickly walked home with a worried heart.
"You finally decided to come back? You're giving lectures every weekend, I don't even know what you're talking about. Hurry up, let's have a family dinner."
Upon entering the house, he was surprised by the atmosphere inside.
It was still Michael, but everyone, including Olivia's mom, had changed their attitude toward him, praising Michael endlessly.
"Simon, you're really lucky! Your daughter found such a good son-in-law for you. I'm jealous!"
"That's right!"
Before Olivia's dad could understand what was happening, he was pulled out for dinner.
They chose a mid-range hotel near the neighborhood, and Olivia's uncle hosted the gathering.
After getting a private room, everyone took their seats.
"Now that you two are married, when are you planning to buy a house and have a wedding?"
Although Michael had showcased his financial strength to Olivia's family in the afternoon, some things still needed to be discussed.
All eyes turned to Michael.
Everyone was curious, except for Olivia, who sat beside Michael, her face full of concern.
Olivia knew Michael's financial situation well. To satisfy her family, he had spent money renting the LaFerrari and buying expensive gifts. She doubted he could still afford to buy a house.
"I plan to carefully plan the wedding, so there's no rush. As for the house, I'm taking Olivia to look at some tomorrow."
Just as Olivia worried about how Michael would answer, he smiled slightly and confidently replied.
"What kind of house are you planning to buy? Even though you don't have children yet, at least a two-bedroom apartment is comfortable. A one-bedroom might be too small!"
"Yes, I saw a residential area near the city center before. It's around 50,000 per square meter, so a two-bedroom apartment would cost around four to five million..."
"Four to five million is too expensive, isn't it?"
The discussion about houses started, and Olivia was stunned by the prices they mentioned.
The current housing market was indeed outrageous.
"Thanks for your kindness, but Olivia prefers tranquility. So, I haven't considered those houses. I plan to buy her a spacious flat."
Michael embraced Olivia and smiled, a hint of indulgence in his eyes.
However, his words left everyone in shock. "A spacious flat... those are quite expensive now!"
Spacious flats were considered high-end residences, usually one unit per floor with large spaces, full functionality, and good locations.
Buying a spacious flat in a place like Nexington, where land was scarce, would be quite costly.
They simply didn't have that financial capability!
"I just mentioned it casually, are you really going to buy it?"
Olivia was dumbfounded by Michael's words. Although she had expressed a desire for a larger living space before, she never imagined a spacious flat!
By openly stating his intention to buy a spacious flat in front of her family, Michael was serious about it!
However, it was too expensive. How could they afford it?
"I'll buy what you like."
Michael looked at Olivia's worried eyes and patted her head. "What's wrong? Don't you like spacious flats? How about I buy you a villa instead?"
"No, no, a spacious flat is fine..."
"Then tomorrow, let's go house hunting. When we find one, I'll put it under your name."
Their private conversation left the surrounding couples with mixed feelings.
Having experienced life, they knew that although the current struggles were for the necessities of life, arguments about money would inevitably occur when it came to marriage.
But with Michael, these things didn't seem to matter. Buying a spacious flat and putting it solely in Olivia's name was equivalent to giving her the house directly.
That was absolute trust!
"Hmm, look at them and then look at you..."
Unable to restrain herself, Olivia's aunt mocked her husband with a cold smile, showing a hint of disdain.
They had argued for a month when they got married because of the name on the house.
Olivia's aunt believed that since she had contributed to the renovation and given an additional two hundred thousand, her name should be on the house. However, her husband felt that as a married couple, it didn't matter whose name was on it.
The dispute had left a scar on their relationship, even though they eventually got married.
Now, seeing Michael directly buy a spacious flat and only put Olivia's name on it, Olivia's aunt couldn't help but envy.
If she were thirty years younger and met someone like Michael, she would definitely pursue him!
