On the lift down I sat on a create in the back

Nobody really bothered me more worried about the battle we were about to face

When the lift hit the bottom causing everything to shake I hopped off going over to a rack of rifles that looked a little weird their barrels were split and a little gyroscope was slotted in the middle

" grab a weapon if you haven't already when the gate opens we will take over for the last shift you have five minutes " Hearing this I grabbed one of the rifles then went to stand were I was assigned to take over " this is going to suck " I had to do the stockade once before and it was a nightmare

When five minutes past the giant metal gate before me started to open and the sounds of gunfire, cannons ,Lazers and all sorts of sounds assaulted my senses accompanied by the sounds of screaming from all manner if beings

Ignoring it I rushed forward being one of the first ones to line up no one was in my way when I reached a flight of stairs I quickly climbed it to see a man with three eyes and horns growing out his head shooting down through a gap at the creatures below as they tried attacking the stockade

Going over to him I tapped his shoulder signaling i would take over he gave me a quick look before moving out the way an taking the stairs down and help move the supplies in so he can be done with his shift

I quickly moved into position an aimed the rifle at the nearest monster when I pulled the trigger the gyroscope came to life spinning and twisting as a small ball of light gathered in it's middle when it was complete a white Lazer shot out the spinning barrel destroying the creature I kept repeating the process killing as many as I can

Beside me the human like mech that was their powered down for a few minutes resuppling and switching pilots when it came back on line It was hold a shoulder mounted cannon each time it shot a large chunk of the attackers were wiped out not even the bigger ones stood a chance

The cadence of the the fight went on at a stable pace until " it's jamed " I heard a loud robotic voice say beside me ' of fucking course it is ' I clicked my tongue aiming at the giant ram like creature charging the stockade but my Lazer was doing nothing to it even when I shot it's eye it just closed it an kept going

When it finally struck the stockade it exploded inward sending shrapnel everywhere and destroying the stairs

i went flying from the force of the impact mid-air i got hit by a bit of shrapnel making me grunt in pain when though i didn't bleed or have organs really taking soul damage still really hurt when I hit the ground I tumbled for a bit until I was stopped by a tree like creature who gently stopped me with its big hand " thank you " I said looking up at it grateful it's leafs ratted in response

Moving my hand to my side I yanked out the bit of metal stuck there making me hiss in pain trying to ignore it I looked back at the big humanoid tree an pointed to its back " do you mind "

It didn't say anything but the branches on its back shifted making a path for me up and some hold for me to keep stable " hells yeah " I climbed up it's back and aimed at the on coming giant ram followed by a tide of monsters luckily we weren't the only defenders left about a dozen mechs joined us as well as a few hands full of people we just had to hold out until the giant metal stakes of the stockade repaired itself

It was going good any creature I shot with the Lazer got a hole in it while anything that got through the barrage were restrained by roots from the ground leaving them open

Then a massive hole opened up not far from us and a new swarm of monsters opened up forcing us to split our attention I broke of with a few people an another squad from a different section to deal with it

" We need to seal it " the man on the other side of the hole yelled throwing a rectangular device

" of course we do " I whispered to myself running over to a dead body ripping a Gauntlet off of it putting it on my arm " sorry buddy but I need this "

The Gauntlet shrunk to my size as I hopped into the hole after the other guy hitting the bottom I activated the Gauntlet causing a white energy shield to appear in front of me roughly the length of my body

I had my way into the tunnel first with the shield raised to defend us while the man behind me killed any threat we met along the way doing this we were very efficient so I didn't take us long to reach a good spot to collapse the tunnel

After clearing out the strange spiked moles that made this tunnel " Alright this looks like a good spo-ahhh" quickly looking behind me I saw the man that as been with me get skewered by a tusk apparently a monster snuck into the tunnel after us without our notice

" run " the man brought out the rectangle device an pressed the button in the middle the device opened and two dozen thick little anchors shot out latching onto the tunnels walls

I did the same with mine and ran in the opposite direction as fast as I could killing anything that tried to stop me I took a bit of damage doing this since I didn't have my energy shield up

As I dodged the attack of one of those weird moles the ground shook an my world suddenly went dark next thing I knew I flet the rush of air and the feeling of my body fall

When my vision cleared I saw I was about to hit the ground after being thrown up out of the ground an it was to late for me to do anything

" hhhhmmmm this has really been a bad day" I was surrounded by a endless hoard of different monsters and creatures rushing towards the wall trying to break it down to get to the juicy souls it hides

Luckily they haven't noticed me yet I quickly looked around for a way back or out of here at least but the only thing around was a powered down mech with its cockpit open an empty with claw marks all over the inside

This mech didn't look like the others instead of being humanoid it had six armored spider like legs with two giant antennas on it's back " nice " I kept my voice low as I quickly an cautiously made my way to the mech climbing inside the cockpit

The cockpit was in a oval shape with a seat in the middle with a stick on each side of it confused I sat in the seat trying to figure out how to start it " how do I get you going their aren't any buttons in here "

As I was scratching my chin fiddling around trying to get this mech working I noticed some monsters stop their assault on the wall from the corner of my eye

Looking up I saw a group of two wolf like monsters make their way to me quickly being joined by others " shit " frantically mashed around what I thought was a control board trying to get it to power up

When that didn't work I grabbed the sticks moving them rapidly in every direction trying to get something to happen...

feeling close to helpless I closed my eyes

" please i want...no I need to see my family again " I gripping the sticks with everything I had hoping for miracle...

....Suddenly I felt a weird sensation like something was being siphoned from me but what ever was doing this finally kicked the mech to life as the top of the cockpit closed just in time to protect me cutting one of the wolf's legs off along with the light

When the darkness vanished a clear picture of what was happening outside appeared in it's place with a slight hud showing the torse damage and how much ammo I had left but

it was bit hard to understand it being in a alien language

the only reason I was able to understand a bit of what I was see was thanks to my gaming experience

Seeing the pack of wolf get ready to attack me with a few random monsters I yanked the sticks upward an a harness came out from the side locking me in as the legs bent for it to jump high above the battlefield and out of the way of attacks

I took a moment to appreciate the beautiful yet fear inducing sight before me then I leaned forward moving the sticks with me and pulling the triggers " fire everything you got " I yelled as I felt the same sensation I did a moment ago

As if it heard me the things I thought were antennas came down as red reticles started focusing on every creature form here to the breach in the wall a ball of white light condensed on the tips of the antennas crackling with blue lightning that seemed to warp the space around it

As the two white balls flew they split apart into hundreds of beautiful beams of light that annihilated anything in it's way leaving trails of destruction in their wake

when I landed on the ground energy blades extended from the sides of the mech and I quickly made my way to the breach using the path I had just cleared that was being filled back in rapidly

Along the way the creature tried to stop me an swallow me in their overwhelming numbers but I cut each one of them down withe giant blades still the bigger one did some damage to the mech making me lose a couple legs

But I was in luck the damage I did held long enough for me to get back inside the wall before it closed the wall once again I turned the mech around putting what ever firepower I had left to hold of the on coming tide until the wall repaired which felt like a eternity

It was only once the gate closed an the next shift appeared to take my place did I finally relax a bit opening the cockpit to get some fresh air to hit my face " where am I going to keep this thing can I even ask for space for it "

" You need to give up control of that mech an hand it over to us it belongs to one of our fallen warriors an as is our property" as I was wondering what to do with my spoil of war some party poppers with four arms an white fur came to ruin my fun and the little happiness I have felt in a while

Sighing I climbed out of the mech "fine take it " I said moving towards the lift but as i did the mech tried to follow

Seeing this I went back pressing my hand to one of it's legs " you can't come with me your not mine....thank you for allowing me to be able to see my family again " this time when I walked away it didn't try to follow

" man I'm exhausted " I made my way to the lift happy I would finally be able to rest an that I wouldn't be working here again at least not any time soon...I hope
