Adventurer's Guild

Unlike the Magic Tower, the adventurer's guild was crowded with people.

Magic Tower doesn't allow anyone to enter as it is an exclusive club for magic users, whereas the adventurer's guild doesn't have such restrictions. Sure anyone can enter the magic tower but it would be only to avail service of the mages.

No one can buy resources from the tower if they aren't a mage and not registered with them.

These types of restrictions are not just for Magic Tower but other profession-based institutions like Alchemy Guild, Blacksmith Guild etc...

Only someone who has the same profession as them would enjoy the full-range privileges of that institution.

Adventurer's Guild is where quests are usually posted. Adventurers can take the quest and when completed would be rewarded as promised. The rewards could be gold coins or resources, based on the quest giver.

Moreover, the guild is where the adventurers can sell their loot without worrying about being robbed.

The Merchant's Guild, which was an institute for merchants is well known among the adventurers to be a sly organization that prioritizes gains above anything else. They would buy cheap from the seller and sell them at higher prices depriving the original seller of profits that should have been theirs.

Chris is here for exactly that. He needed quests to gain strength and wealth quicker and the adventurer's guild was the right place for that.

"Hello Sir, how can I help you?" the female receptionist asked him as soon as he arrived at the reception desk.

Unlike Magic Tower, there are a lot more reception desks here to help the visitors as this place sees more traffic than any other place, maybe not as many as a tavern. The only thing they have in common though is the female as a receptionist here too, which is quite common in every institution.

Most of the guests are males, so every institute employs a female to preside over the reception desk.

"Yes, I like to be registered as an adventurer", he replied.

Just like the Magic Tower, here at the guild, they asked the bare minimum and bound his mana to the issued card for him. Once that was done he was free to pick up the quests as he likes.

"Do you want to know how this works, sir?"

Chris who has an idea about the workings of the guild, has no need to fill in the details. It was also the reason why he didn't bother to ask the receptionist of the Magic Tower.

Every Identity Card issued by institutes like this comes in various colours based on your standing with that institute. There were also ranks associated with you in the institutes.

The ranks start at F-rank and end at SS-rank. There used to be an SSS-rank in the past but no one has ever reached that rank in the past few hundred years.

Below the C-rank, the colour of the card would be White. Once you reach C-rank, the card colour changes to Silver and it would be for B-rank. When one reaches an A-rank, the colour changes to Gold and it would be the same for S-rank members.

For SS-rank members, the card would be Golden White.

For SSS-rank members it was said to be black but no one has yet to see that colour.

One could say that the institute could give a black card to its most powerful members but it would be impossible. It was not in their hands. All they could do was issue new cards for the members but once it was done, the decision to change colours was not in their hands but in the hands of the world.

Yes, the world of Aredia decides on this matter.

This was something common people had no idea about. Everyone assumes that the institute head would decide on these matters but the heads know what really happens.

Except for the institute heads, kings and some powerful figures, no one knows this secret.

Chris who was a returnee, obviously found out about this secret when the Abyssal Invasion happened. It was not just him who knew the secret but many more found about this.

The Abyssal creatures leaked this secret on purpose to sow discord among the people and they were right. There were many protests that happened in the kingdoms, causing a lot of chaos inside the kingdoms giving the invaders to cut some leeks.

As anyone can concur they kept it a secret to make people obedient to the rulers. Once the secret that the world itself is the judge, no one could keep the people to do things as they wish and it wouldn't align with the ruling families.

Though it can be said that this was a secret for races like humans, it was not considered a secret for every race out there.

Elves prayed to the world in the form of the World Tree, which is connected to the World's Soul. They say that the world tree helps them to grow and live a long life. Many races in one way or another pray to the world, in different ways.

Unlike them, humans pray to the god of light. There are few other races who pray to outside powers for strength and neglect their world. Of course, it caused a lot of strife in the human nations, weakening them much further.

Chris doesn't know what happened to Aredia or to Earth, but he knows that they are nearing their extinction. He died before that happened. He wanted to get revenge but also wanted to save what he cherished.

For that, he needed to be strong and the Winter Kingdom is the best place for him to grow stronger.

"It's time to take some quests and grow stronger", Chris muttered as he went to the task board to pick up some quests.
