Chris looked for his sister first in her room but she was not there. He thought that she returned and saw him meditating, so she could have returned to her room and would be doing homework but she was not present in her room.
"Did she go to the neighbour Aunty?" he wondered. This is what she does when he is away at work. Unlike now, Chris only returned late in the evening and then prepared food for the night or brought some along the way home.
Before the game, he wouldn't be here for his sister and she would be alone in the house until he returned. So she would go to the neighbours sometimes to pass the time.
"I should check the neighbours before I start to panic. Nothing happened to her at this time in the past life. Even with my butterfly effects, it shouldn't affect that much, not at this moment", he thought before leaving his house and that is when he heard his sister's voice along with a few new voices.
When he heard her voice, he turned towards the voice origin and saw that he was right. His sister was with the neighbours but the only difference was that the neighbours were the new ones that moved here recently.
Chris walked up to them, "Abby, this where you were? I have searched the entire house to find you".
Abby heard her brother's words and spoke, "I was only talking to the big sisters here to relieve my boredom".
Chris looked at the neighbour girl, "Uh, hello again, Samantha. It's good to see you again . I hope Abby was not troubling you".
Samantha smiled and spoke, "No she wasn't. In fact we won't mind her company and would love to spend some more time with her".
Chris smiled upon hearing the words. In past life, when he was busy with work, Abby made friends with these new neighbours. She liked spending time with them rather than him or the neighbouring aunty. Those there were girls and were near to her age, so she befriended them easily and also was at ease with them.
"Thank you", he said, genuinely feeling that these girls cared about his sister. This was something he understood from her describing, back in their past life. When these girls were here, his sister was happy and safe but nothing stayed constant. The girls shifted to a better place and later the accident happened.
"Accident", Chris fumed internally remembering those details. It was not easy to forget that he was not capable of protecting his sister. He failed as a brother. His only duty was to protect her and for that, he blamed himself at first but now knowing that his sister's death was caused by a "friend", he shifted his hate towards that "friend".
Chris calmed himself quickly before others saw the changes in demeanour, "One day, I'll settle all my scores and put the past behind me. I got a new chance and it would be stupid to delve into the past. What I should do is move from that darkness to a brighter future. Only then could I ensure that my sister would be safe".
Samantha spoke again, "Ah, I forgot to introduce you", she turned to her roommates and said, "This is Chris, our neighbour and Abby's brother". Then she turned towards Chris, "Chris, the one wearing the yellow top is my sister, Arielle, and the other one is my friend, Sheena".
Chris smiled at both of them and said, "Hello, nice to meet you".
"Nice to meet you too", the two girls greeted back.
Chris wanted to mingle with them at the time but he had to make dinner for both of them. With missing out on lunch and the formation of mana core, his appetite increased. He felt that he could ravage two or three sheep entirely by himself.
He rubbed his sister's head, "Don't cause any trouble for them. I am going to prepare meals for the night".
He nodded at the girls and returned to his house to prepare food. He is going to have a feast for the night but it wouldn't be easy. It would take a long time to make one.
"Let's get on with this. I need to log in to the game after dinner. The plans may have to change and I should improve my levels and should be promoted to the next rank as soon as possible", Chris thought and started working on the dinner.
