Race to Become an Intermediate Mage (1)

After dinner, Chris logged back into the game. This was not his original plan. He thought of taking a few days off the game in order to form his mana core and spend time with his sister or rest in his bed but those plans were scrapped.

He formed his core much faster than he anticipated. He thought it would take days but all it took was a few hours. The issue now was the quest that appeared before him. He has yet to make a decision on whether to accept the quest or reject it.

This quest was not a simple one. Accepting or not, either of those two decisions would have its own consequences for him to bear. He was too weak to bear the consequences.

One may think what is the worst that could happen if he accepts the quest?

After all, accepting means that he would be helping his world. This should be a good thing right but it is not.

The quest showed hints of possible hidden dangers that come with accepting the quest. There would be intruders who don't want the world to awaken properly. Whoever they are, if they find out about him, not only him but also his sister would be in danger.

He can't accept that but also can't refuse the quest. The only way for him to be safe now is that he had to upgrade his rank as soon as possible. This means endless grinding.

"I would accept that quest only after I become an Intermediate Mage. Not just here, I should upgrade as fast as I can on Earth too. Only then would I have the power to protect my sister from any aftereffects", Chris decided as he walked towards the adventurer's guild. There is a lot he has to do to before he can reach the next rank.

---

Chris picked up different quests that he would possibly do while increasing his levels. There are even some quests that require drops from dungeon bosses and he picked them up because dungeons are the fastest way to level up in a short time.

If this was before, he would have slowly and steadily developed but now it was a race against time. He has less than a year to complete the "Quest". If possible he wants to complete them before a year as the quest stated about possible intruders.

These intruders could be from Earth or any other world. This is a time when mana started to appear on Earth, and he doesn't know every detail about what happened exactly at this time around the globe. There could be many intrusions from alien worlds who could be looking for new worlds to conquer.

He doesn't have even the tiniest detail pertaining to this time frame. So all he could do was to prepare for the worst and hope it wouldn't come to that.

Once he was done picking up quests, he left the city borders.

---

Chris ventured deep into the frozen forests, towards the Northern Mountains. There are many reasons why he ventured towards this forbidden region. This is where his true target lies, the main reason why he chose Frost City as his main city.

Coming here is not an easy task. On his way, he had to fight a lot of monsters but killing most of them was as easy as eating a cake. There are a few monsters that gave him a challenge but he eliminated them. By the time he reached the mountains, he levelled up twice.

[You have reached level 28.]

[You have gained +10 INT and +60 FAPs.]

Unlike before where he saved the FAPs for future use, he used them now. The future for them to use is here now.

He allocated +100 to STM, and +50 each to VIT, INT and WIS, leaving behind 30 FAPs.

"Hmm, it looks good but there is something missing. Space skills, I should buy them when I find them", Chris was satisfied when he saw his status.

As Chris thought, space skills are very useful and are in much demand. So they won't appear much in the market and if they do, they would be sold in minutes at a very high price. At this stage, even Chris may not be able to afford one.

"I hope the rumour about finding space skills is true. I have been saving that platinum box I got for a while. I hope that I get a space skill when I open it. Ah, let's forget about that for a moment. Let's find those dungeons for now. They are much more important for now than anything else".

After all his target was the dungeons, the ones he heard rumours about.
