New King, New Queen

The throne room was packed with all the nobles of the kingdom; all of them were present regardless of rank and position. This included people who were chiefs of villages and City mayors.

This was a significant event that required all people who were relevant to the kingdom's life's blood to be present, and declining to be here would be a treasonous act.

The morning's rising sun peered through the windows, illuminating the room with a warm golden glow that signaled a new beginning for the kingdom of Re-estize and its people.

All these individual nobles and people were kneeling on one knee and had their heads down looking at the floor. There was a pensive and tense atmosphere in the room; of course, this wasn't because of any underlying tension or conflict between the nobles and the new rulers; it was simply because new rulers had been crowned.

With the crowning of this new King and Queen came a lot of changes, the first one being that the position of the queen was no longer just a decorative position meant for the woman to look good; the Queen now held sway within the noble court.

The six great nobles were forced to accept this, regardless of their protests, although the former king had no qualms with the decision as it meant a foreigner like Arthur wouldn't have complete rule over the kingdom.

This was just one of the few changes that were to come, and a majority of the nobles present knew more changes would come and they would affect their livelihoods. That brought a sense of anxiety and unease to them as it brought the possibility of some of them losing their positions.

"All hail the new King and Queen of the Re-estize kingdom"

Gazeff Stronoff shouted, his voice echoing throughout the whole room as he stood next to the new Queen Renner.

"All Hail!"

Everyone shouted in unison as they lifted their heads and looked at their new rulers, acknowledging them and accepting their rule; of course, there were those who did not accept the new rulers and instead remained silent and did not acknowledge them.

Renner's face displayed a small gentle smile as she witnessed this take place, her face may have been smiling but her mind was calculating, she was already aware that there would be those who may oppose hers and Arthur's rule, especially considering that her brother Zanac was alive as such she is currently thinking of ways to curb any would-be rebels.

It wasn't just that, but new ideas about how to run the kingdom came to her mind rapidly: who to keep and who to discard? A complete structural change was not possible, and the corruption ran deep, but she was ready to tweak and straighten out all the necessary parts; of course, she didn't forget her promise to Lakyus's father and planned to give the man what he asked for.

Arthur, on the other hand, displayed a wide grin, bearing his teeth in silent satisfaction. He was now a King, a title that came with a plethora of responsibilities but also one that came with the freedom of knowing that no one can command him and only he commands.

Of course, he doesn't plan to be the type that rules with an iron fist, Iskander's speech was still fresh and present in his mind, he didn't know if that type of kind was going to be a successful king but he was determined to try it out, if it later turns out to be unfeasible then he can abandon it and try a different philosophy.

He was also keenly aware that he now had a massive responsibility on his shoulders and one that made it so he could not afford to mess up or people's livelihoods were at risk. This is what highlighted the fact he knew nothing about running a country and he would need to learn on the job.

'How hard could it be?'

He thought, I mean, if some of the most incompetent people in the world could become president back in his world, then surely a person of average intelligence like himself can do somewhat of a good job. Plus, with Renner's help, it shouldn't be that difficult.

"Rise, my subjects"

Renner's voice took him out of his thoughts and he prepared to speak, as he saw everyone in the room slowly get to their feet

Both Arthur and Renner stood up from their respective thrones and, held hands before Arthur addressed his audience.

His face was stern and conveyed a look and air that a king should have when addressing his audience; the sunlight struck his face and hair, highlighting his handsome features.

"As the newly appointed rulers of the Re-estize kingdom, We vow to bring prosperity and peace to the lives of all who live within its borders, we vow to rule fairly and just. We vow to give opportunity and or punishment to those who deserve it. So we ask that you support us in creating a prosperous and long-lasting kingdom."

With that having been said both rulers took a small bow humbly giving thanks to the crowd for allowing this opportunity for new rulers

"LONG LIVE THE KING! LONG LIVE THE QUEEN! LONG LIVE THE RE-ESTIZE KINGDOM!!"

The crowd cheered loudly and clearly, which was then followed by a cacophony of clapping that drowned out any other sounds and, with it, marked the ending to the ceremony, and the guest could now leave.

Of course, not everyone was happy about the new rulers, Marquis Bulloupe was pensive and tense, and his hands were stiff as he clapped.

Arthur, however, was not focused on such trivial matters, mostly because his mind was occupied by something else entirely.

You see the issue concerning Renner and Lakyus had yet to be resolved and he hadn't had the chance to convince the new Queen to allow Lakyus to be his second lover and at present everything was undetermined

After this was done, Arthur was unsure whether or not to bring the topic back up again; it was a delicate matter that needed to be handled with care.

His first attempt was sloppy and was done hastily. He acted out of impulse, thinking it wouldn't be too difficult to convince Renner, but he was wrong, and it also ended with him committing hypocrisy.

His second attempt needs to be more planned, so he wanted to let the issue settle for a bit before trying again.

'Jesus Fucking Christ, this is what I get for being greedy'

He chastised himself; truly, a single woman should be more than enough; why must he want two when one would suffice?

The new King sighed to himself, well one thing was for sure: he got what he wanted, and he had no right to complain.
