Victor stopped running when he saw he wouldn't be able to reach the van. He ran back to the building to inform everyone what had happened.

"Where is Maya?" Old Bat asked, seeing Victor return alone and sweating. She looked behind him, but there was no sign of Maya anywhere.

Victor raked his fingers through his hair, ruffling it. "He took her."

"Who took her?" Old Bat questioned, holding Victor. "Where is she? I will go get her myself. She doesn't need the violence right now." The woman was worried about both Maya and the child she was carrying.
