Chapter Thirty-Seven

AFTER 5 YEARS

I heard the blaring horn of the car behind me, along with the frustrated curse of the driver. Ugh, the traffic light turned green, and I was lost in my thoughts. The rain had finally stopped, and as I glanced at Tyrone's towering billboard, I felt a pang of sadness in my heart. I quickly turned the key, started my car, and a few minutes later, my phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Your late," a smile crept on my face upon hearing his voice, even though I couldn't see him; I knew he was rolling his eyes at me.

"Sorry, Rye, I got caught in traffic," I chuckled.

"Traffic? Where did you even pass by? I bet you saw Tyrone's new billboard, right?" Rye teased, and this time, I rolled my eyes, even though he couldn't see me.

"Forget it. I'm hanging up," I said, but before I could end the call, Rye stopped me.
