Out of the corner of her eye, Raquel noticed Ryker’s eyes widened for a moment before he quickly made his face blank. She knew he was just as shocked as she was.
The Southern ports were the only part of the magical trade Westerwyn had no control over in the Pellan Kingdom. They were also the only routes Westerwyn could use to send their goods to other continents.
The ports were the lifeline of the Einar Duchy, allowing them to make money. So, for Lord Eric to put them on the line, it meant he was very serious.
“It seems you’re quite serious about this.” Raquel murmured.
“I am.” Lord Eric nodded. “As you know the ports are important to Einar so I’ll keep the conditions set by, your highness.”
“Will you be willing to make a mage pact on that?” Ryker asked suddenly.
“Do you not trust a contract deal?” Lord Eric muttered.
