A Reason For Marriage

After Lord Eric left with a promise to send the gold pieces and a copy of the contract, Raquel quickly wrote a letter to the Royal Guard.

She then sent Mary to deliver it, wanting the Royal Guard to know that she was dropping the charges. Lord Eric would sort out the rest. Once everything was sorted, the couple found themselves alone in Ryker’s office.

Raquel looked at Ryker from across the coffee table, waiting for him to speak. She was curious about what had happened earlier but was waiting for Ryker to speak about it first.

She had a feeling he had an explanation for it. He was just trying to find the right words.

“I suppose it’s only fair that I tell you why I asked Lord Eric to marry my cousin, Lady Fia…” Ryker sighed, looking up from the documents he had been working on.
