“You're quite arrogant, Mr. Jackson.” Ryker murmured, keeping his tone nonchalant. “Her highness is completely loyal to her father. Why would she want to kill him when the throne is guaranteed? It doesn't make sense.”
“Besides, Lady Diana's death had nothing to do with us.” Raquel added. “I'm sure you know she was killed by those horrible criminals.”
“Yes, I know the official story given by the royal family. I also know that it's false.” Xavier rolled his eyes. “You forget what I said about knowing all of Lady Diana's secrets. Including the one about her being the dark witch that cursed your highness.”
His words shocked the couple, but they kept their faces blank, not wanting to show Xavier the truth. They needed to keep acting like they knew nothing.
Otherwise, they'd be caught up in his web of blackmail and who knew what he would demand for keeping his mouth shut.
Xavier Jackson was a variable neither one of the couple had seen coming.
