“You're right.” Raquel said, suddenly realizing that she was in Ryker's arms.

The embrace was warm, comforting her from her troubles. But much as she wanted to stay in Ryker's arms, she couldn't.

Raquel withdrew from his arms, wanting to face Ryker as they continued their discussion. He gazed at her, looking almost disappointed.

No, she was probably imagining that…

Mentally shaking her head, Raquel said, “You're right in saying this is a lesson. Our plans are dangerous and as much as I want Nicole around, I can't risk that.”

“Are you going to send her away?” Ryker asked.

“Yes.” Raquel nodded her head. “I don't want her in the crossfire. She's already had enough harm done to her…”

“She'll be safe in Westerwyn.” Ryker proposed. “I can have those maids who served you in the capital take her place.”

Raquel smiled, grateful for the thoughtfulness. She had been wondering how she'd replace when she sent Nicole away, but that wasn't an issue now.
