Dead Case (II)

Lulu's words were rather cliched and spoken absentmindedly. It was clear to Randolph that these were practiced lines that and that she held no sincerity.

"Y-yes… I understand. I apologize, I just…" He put on a saddened face, which wasn't difficult because the news really did affect him.

Lulu's face softened upon seeing that, and she scratched her cheek awkwardly.

Gero on the other hand merely hardened his stare a little.

The young man felt like he had seen through his ploy of gaining sympathy. It was as if he was observing every minute  change in him, as if he could see right through him.

Randolph's acting had never been that good in the first place, but perhaps since the sadness he felt was genuine, the gloomy man reverted back to his original look soon after.
