Under The Stars! (Part 1)

Isobel reached her with a sigh, Amara soon took half of the burden from her mother, rescuing her. Isobel sighed in relief.

"Why are you moving around with such heavy files? Where is it that you are going mother?"

"As you suggested, we are shifting the department to the ground floor dear, and I badly need your help!!"

"That's great to hear, hope I'll be helpful!" Amara assured.

"We have decided to replace the department with the testing lab in the ground floor, for only doctors are allowed there." Isobel explained as they walked towards the lab.

"What about the machinery?" Amara wondered.

"We have appointed few workers, they will begin to shift the machinery in the evening!"

Amara nodded understandingly. She then helped her mother in rearranging all the files, medical boxes, patients records, few small equipments, with the help of the staff.

Except the machinery which would be shifted in the evening.

Amara and Isobel sighed in relief, settling onto the seats.

"Would you like to have anything?" Amara asked concerned.

Isobel nodded, "A cup of juice please!"

Amara assured her with a smile, leaving briefly before returning with two cups of juice.

However, Isobel was surprised when the canteen staff came ahead, serving the other staff with cups of juices. With a smile she stared her daughter, "Did you do that?!"

Amara nodded, "We all worked hard, mother."

Isobel felt proud, "You did great!!" she appreciated.

Amara chuckled for it was twice she was hearing it!

Isobel felt more proud when one of the staff initiated a thankyou for Amara thinking about their hardwork and letting them have juice. Amara smiled saying they and their hardwork deserves it.

Harry joined as well, "Is everything settled?"

"Almost!!" Isobel replied.

Harry smiled, "Great to hear!"

"Good evening, father!" Amara greeted cheerfully.

"Good evening, my fairy!!" Harry smiled wide.

Amara smiled while Isobel chuckled, "You didn't greet me though!!" she complained.

"You tease me alot my doctor mother, I should at least take some small amount of it on you, don't you think so?!" Amara said teasing, both her and Harry laughing at it.

Isobel shook her head, "Laugh laugh, I'll get my own time!!" she scoffed.

"All the very best!!" Amara teased again.

Harry cleared his voice, "Alright enough! Stop it Amara!"

Amara tried to stop her laugh, trying to be serious this time.

"I got to know about your request about something to the authority?!"

Amara nodded while Isobel wondered, "What was it about?"

"She requested to allow the discharged patients into the garden whenever they wish, as well as to arrange few more benches in the garden for their comfort!" Harry explained.

Isobel clapped for her, "You did great!!" Harry praised.

Thrice, Amara thought.

"Are you done though?!" She asked instead.

Harry shrugged, "I have an operation to perform, it might take three hours or more."

Isobel nodded thoughtfully, "I'll stay back for half of night-shift then!"

Amara sighed, "I'll stay back at EMR (Emergency Ward)."

Harry with a nod left and after a while the surgery started. Isobel went to her own department and made sure that the machinery got shifted to the ground floor without any damage, while Amara was working in the EMR, she took in two accident cases and treated the victims, and then treated the patients who came for injections and first aids, she also checked each and every patient's condition and their health status! Slowly time passed and it's night already! Amara went to the newly shifted Anesthesia Department, and saw her mother being busy with writing some records, reaching her, she took a seat beside. Isobel noticed it!

"Are you done?" She asked.

"Well yes! There are no more patients in the EMR whom I can treat now! So probably I am done! What about you?"

"Almost done!"

"Hmm.... carry on, I won't disturb you!"

Isobel with a smile patted her head. Amara suggested to leave to see if the surgery is done or not, however her mother denied, saying it's almost time, and her father would probably be coming to them, at any time.

Amara with a sigh accepted, deciding to wait for a while, her mother finally completed writing the records and her dad came in.

"Am I late?" He asked a bit concerned.

Amara shook her head, "Not at all father! Mother just finished her work!"

Harry nodded, "Did the operation go well?" Amara asked excitedly.

Harry nodded again, "It did, by god's grace!!"

"I hope we can leave now?!" Amara asked, with a smile, feeling already happy for the success in the operation.

"Of course!!" Harry replied.

Amara then drove the car to a nearby restaurant.

"Why again?!" Isobel wondered.

"Let me remind you that today you worked a lot! Do you think you can cook after going home? Think about your health mother!!" She said with a shook.

"But...."

"She is right!" Harry cut her off, "And I am tired too! I fear I can't wait till you cook! Let's have our dinner here only!" He added, giving out a wink at her daughter.

Isobel and Amara couldn't help but smile.

They then had their dinner and went back to home. Soon after reaching home, Harry and Isobel went to sleep, feeling tired by the tiresome day. Amara took a shower but didn't go to sleep, instead went to terrace, letting herself indulge in stargazing!

After sometime, she shut her eyes, resting against the bench, feeling the silence, letting it take over her.

A small smile crept over her suddenly, "I knew you would come!!" She said.

Zamiel who appeared just now, sitting beside her, wondered, "How did you sense me?"

Amara shrugged, opening her eyes, looking at him, "Your smell!!"

"How....do I smell like?!"

Amara breathed deep, a soft smile playing on her pink lips, "You smell like petrichor, like the fresh air after the pleasant rain!!" She expressed, feeling strange about always sensing the smell, even before she knew him.

'I am someone who has been watching over you, guiding you when needed. You can think of me as a guardian of sorts.'

She felt strange about it! With a sigh, she took it with ease.

"I like it!!" She admitted.

Zamiel smiled, "You seem to like staring the sky as well!!"

Amara shrugged, "When I feel clueless, I do that."

"Do not worry, it's just a matter of two days!!" He assured knowing how is she feeling about the present situation.

Amara smiled faintly, "I surely might be disappointed about any unfortunate outcome, Zamiel!" she breathed deep, "However, these few days I got to spend with my parents, I feel like I'm capable of erasing all those bad memories. This is a beautiful blessing alone!!"

"I cannot wish for anything more!!" Amara added.

"Yet, I seem to be still greedy somehow, expecting it to remain so!!" She chuckled looking down at her hands.

Zamiel inhaled, leaning back into his seat as he looked up the sky briefly, "Your assumed greediness then might not be unrighteous!!"

"What do you mean?" She asked puzzled, her eyes searching his.

"What I mean is, there's nothing wrong with what you are asking for, and I'll make sure you will believe it one day!!"

She watched him profoundly, her eyes suddenly shifting its colour with a slight blend of green and silver before turning back to black.

Zamiel watched her surprised, taken aback by the sudden change in her existence, which she seemed to not yet realise.

"Why did you chose me?" She asked out of blue, still being unable to look away from this man. Yes, she thought of questioning no more until everything gets settled, but looking at his heartfelt care for her, she couldn't help but ask it.

"I'm a complete stranger to you!!" Amara added.

Zamiel with a denying shook, took her chin into his palm, "Trust me, you are not!!"

She couldn't believe it, the way how she feels about his every word having a deep meaning. The way the conversation between them somehow portraying a hidden unknown mystery she's yet to discover.

"I feel the urge, to know about you!!" She confessed.

"Each and every single thing!!" She added.

Zamiel looked straight into her eyes, somehow struggling with something inward, "This is not the right time!!" he tried to convince her.

She smiled faintly, looking away, indirectly letting away his hand.

She watched the night unfold, her breath strangely calm and steady, unlike his who's beginning to feel guilty somehow.

"At least about your new family?" She tried her luck.

Zamiel chuckled, "Of course!!"
