"I couldn't!"
Jade's reply broke him, the last ray of hope being shattered.
Zamiel looked down at his hands, feeling helpless.
"Her life.....is a mystery for sure!!" Jade whispered to herself, wondering him and Cassandra.
"I've never sensed a human to have as much amount of energy within, as her!"
"Looking into her soul was a struggle, I felt those strong clashes of two contrast energies." Jade expressed, rubbing her palms, calming down the chills she had while trying to see the vision. "I was so close in seeing what happened to her, Zamiel. But I was restricted. I apologise for not being much helpful to you."
Zamiel with a smile gave a shook, "You tried, and it's more than enough for me!"
Jade sighed, "However, your wife isn't a normal human!"
Oh, Zamiel already knew!!
"She has undefined forces surging within her, and, she fought really hard to survive!" Jade shut her eyes briefly, "Her soul left with a lot of unfinished business. Her feelings a chaos, like a burning fire. Anger, grief, disappointment, fury, vengeance, longing."
A sigh escaped her, Zamiel trying hard not to tear up. "But more than everything Zamiel," Jade cleared her voice,"I can sense it, her soul is a striving one. Destined to do something great. And so will she return!!"
Zamiel recollected her words, "Will return?!"
"She's....dead!!"
"Death is for the body, and not the soul, Zamiel! Your wife has things to complete and so will she take birth again!"
A ray of hope lit his heart, will he meet her again? "When.....when will that happen?" His impatience clearly evident.
"It cannot be clear Zamiel." Cassandra explained, "It can be anytime and anywhere!
From days, months, years, decades and even to centuries, it's impossible to be defined!!"
A sigh escaped him, however the old lady's words bothered him again.
"Beings destined to perform great deeds always are expected to be tested, Zamiel! Your wife, will have to go through it again if she ever goes for a rebirth. Only the success through her sufferings will make her live!!"
"What do you mean? Her next life will as well be... miserable?!"
Jade shrugged, "It's my opinion, Zamiel!"
A moment of silence bothered him, Zamiel cleared his voice after a sigh, "Is there any chance for me to protect her from all the evil?!"
"In the....next life?"
Jade smiled, "You both are soulmates Zamiel. If she takes birth, you will as well! Just the way her fate is, your journey with her is as well destined, don't you think so!"
"It's just that you two wouldn't be having any memory of the past. That's how it works!!"
He pondered over it, "How would I know I need to protect her in case of my memory loss?"
A sweet smile took over her lips, "Isn't it how the magic of divine works?"
"If you were fated to protect her, you will, if not, you will fail again!" Jade said with a sigh as though the issue cannot be helped, getting up on her feet, ready to leave.
"What if I don't want to fail?"
"What if I.... don't want to forget?!"
"That doesn't really stay in your hands to control, Zamiel!" Jade explained softly, understanding the turmoil he was going through.
"What if I want to take it into my hands?"
"That would mean going against the nature of existence!!" Jade warned.
Cassandra slowly getting to feel the tension in the air.
Zamiel, impatient, got up on his feet as well, making Cassandra follow the act, "And what if that's what I intend to do?"
"What are you really upto Zamiel? What is that you are implying?!"
"All I wish for is to see her again, feel her again, love her again!!" Zamiel yelled, making them silent. Tears streaming down his eyes.
"If she's to take birth again, I wish to...see her again." He repeated, looking down at the floor, "To love her again. To guard her, to protect her! To live with her!!"
"This time....with no restrictions, and just peace!"
"I just want to have a peaceful life with her! Is it....." Zamiel looked up with tears cascading down his cheeks, "....is it too much to ask for?!"
Jade took a deep inhale looking away, his eyes piercing her soul. "Then live!!"
Zamiel looked her in silence.
"Live a long life," she turned back to him with a stern face, "and wait for her!!"
He didn't understand it, feeling mixed up.
"I don't.....get it!"
"Become an immortal and mark her soul so you could recognise her when she returns!"
Cassandra's eyebrows raised up at the thought alone, "Grandma!!" her voice almost alarming, "What are you suggesting??"
Jade ignored her, "Can you do it?!" she asked.
Zamiel found himself numb, her question perplexing him.
"It isn't easy Zamiel! It would come with a lot of turmoil, more than what you are going through!!"
"Will you be able to handle it??"
"To see your dear ones dying, your reign ruining, your dynasty demolishing!"
"Can you do it??"
Her words seemed to pierce his heart, like a twirl of stab.
"In the uncertainty of her arrival, you would be asked to be patient! Will you be?!"
"You will see her return but not remembering you, you will be nothing but a stranger to her!"
"And by becoming an immortal, you will be completely unacceptable for her!! Will you still wait for her??"
"Grandma, stop it!!" Cassandra attempted to halt her.
Jade restricted her with a single raise of hand, which was enough to silent Cassandra. Jade's gaze never leaving him. "Are you willing to live for the person whom you were ready to die for??"
"Tell me Zamiel, can you do it?!"
As though he lost his breath, Zamiel fell back onto the couch, his gaze daring not to ascend.
The lady's questions swirling within his head, every word a repeating echo near his ear.
He was on a suicide mission realising he couldn't live without her even for a second more, and now, to wait for her return in hope, despite being uncertain about when it would happen, is it possible for him?!
His hands resting against his temples, his eyes shutting as he remembered his family. His mother, father, sister, in-laws! His wife! What good has he done to them in his life?! Leaving the throne, and his parents all alone. Letting his brother-in-law take the burden of his responsibility despite knowing the man was going through the same pain by losing his sister. Not being able to fulfil his wife's wish upon finding the culprits behind her father's death.
"You are my blessing Zamiel. And I believe, you'll always protect me!!" His wife's words echoing, Zamiel remembering all those precious moments he had with her. Tears streaming down his closed eyes.
"Human life comes with a lot of situations wherein the decision is always to be chosen Zamiel!" Jade spoke softly, "It is one of those moments !"
"No matter how difficult it is, do it!"
"Choose. Either take the risk or just give up! Choose then come to me!!" Letting out her statement, Jade attempted to leave, heading towards the entrance.
Zamiel felt the silence within eating him up, his closed eyes rolling, and suddenly with a sigh he got up, "I'm willing to take the risk. Help me grandma!!"
His call halted her, almost clenching her heart. The way he addressed her declaring his intention of owning her by relation.
Taking a deep breath, she turned back, a moment of silent stare being exchanged between them. "Cassandra will be helping you train from tomorrow!"
Zamiel felt puzzled, "You might be forgetting the fact that I'm a crown prince!"
"I'm well trained already....?" He shrugged with an uncertain smile.
"To begin with, you first need to unlearn the fact of what you were, cause you will not be being that anymore!"
"Secondly, note it! The training you recieved your entire life is nowhere helpful for you to become an immortal!!"
Zamiel nodded silently, secretly thinking she was rude.
"Cassandra, help him!" Jade mentioned before leaving the scene.
Cassandra sighed, "I've never seen her this furious in my entire life!!"
However Zamiel was silent, settling back into the couch.
Noticing him, Cassandra squatted down, "What's wrong?"
"I've said it, but....will I really be able to do it?" Zamiel more than expressing, questioned himself.
"Heaven was my inspiration! Despite having no interest at anything, her presence made me perform to my great extent. In my life, she was that source of motivation for me!"
A tear fell down his left eye, "Now without her, will I really be able to .... handle myself?!"
Cassandra sighed, taking his hand into hers, "Might be without her, but it is for her! The fact alone should be your motivation!!"
Zamiel smiled at her, she tapping on his hand suggested, "Please rest!!" before leaving as well.
Zamiel watched her leave with a sigh, leaning back against the couch.
Heaven's image displayed infront of his eyes. "Will we.....really meet again?!"
"Will you think I'm insane again if I do what I intend to do?!"
Another sigh escaped him, "I miss you my wife, and it's suffocating!!" his eyes shutting again.
"I hope.....you won't make me wait for a longtime!!" Another stream of tear cascaded down his temple as he rested back his head, "Just.... return soon my love! Just return soon!!"
************
Jade stood alone in the vast grassland, head high with eyes shut and hands raised. Her hair flying up.
Cassandra who seemingly appeared out could see her, the way she was trying to regain her energy through the moonlight, it's clear that she had seen something irregular.
"Grandma?" She called in low.
Jade after a moment, had her eyes open, her flying hair falling down as she turned towards the woman.
"You have anything to say, Cassandra?"
The woman was silent for a moment, "You have never invested yourself into something to this extent!! It surprises me!"
"Well, 'to this extent' as in?"
"To the point where you suggested him to become an immortal!"
"He's a human, why would you want him to do that??"
"Just....what have you seen that made you do this??"
Jade turned away, "What do you mean by I did it?!"
"Grandma, do not pretend with me. You literally manipulated him upon taking the decision you desired of!!"
"I didn't!" Jade softly denied, "I was just checking something!"
"Checking what??"
"Checking to what extent would he love his wife."
"Why would you want to know that?" Cassandra sighed frustrated.
Jade calmly turned away, with a snap two chairs appearing out of thin air while she settled in one. "She...might be a witch!!"
"What?!"
Jade nodded, "I could sense it, but I didn't know whether he was aware of the fact or not. And so I couldn't say it out."
"That's.... unbelievable!!" Cassandra whispered to herself taking her seat, "Then... how could she die? I mean, why didn't she use her magic to save herself and her child??"
Jade leaned back in her seat, "We don't exactly know what happened right."
Cassandra could only nod for that.
"But, there was something more about her!! Other than being a witch, she was something else."
"What do you mean?"
"She had a blend of two contrast energies, and I'm sure she used them in her last breath. That's somehow feels inexplicable for me."
"However, I'm sure about it. Whatever the energy she had, it wasn't good!!"
Cassandra tried to digest the information, "Perhaps, there are so many mysteries about her that are yet to be solved."
"But.... grandma, even with this, I still don't understand why did you encourage him upon something like .... completely changing his identity?!"
"Because her death wasn't a natural one!!" Jade declared, "And I predicted she would be facing the battle again, he needs to.... protect her!"
"I'm only ..... helping him to become strong enough to be able to help her when needed!!"
Cassandra stared her in silence, "Such affection for a woman you have never met? Why??"
Jade pondered over it, as if she didn't question this herself yet, yes, she was never the one to get attached with someone so easily. Then why this woman?
The vision of the woman's last moments she had seen, reappeared in her head, with a sigh she pushed them away, the vision clenched her heart. Made her feel something deeply about that woman.
Just why?!
"May be, I am just.... sympathetic enough!!"
