Cassandra helped Zamiel understand the foundations of immortal beings first. Deciding to go with the history first, helping Zamiel gain a basic level knowledge of what he is to become.
Zamiel was amused to know the legendary tales of the immortals and demons, and their relation. He still wondered if they did exist, over looking the fact that he were to become one soon.
Cassandra then helped him train himself, he didn't have magic or any power within yet and so, she helped him learn tricks that would help him to manage a fight with any powerful being.
And along the process, he got along with the ladies, Cassandra slowly becoming her favourite person.
He got to know about their personal details as well, Cassandra not being Jade's biological granddaughter surprised him. She admitted that she was adopted and Jade had no other person in the name of family. He inquired about Jade's past, wanting to know more about the woman however, Cassandra only shrugged for that. She didn't know much about the woman, and whenever she tried to know, the woman spoke in riddles she could never comprehend.
The trial slowly faded away.
Zamiel could only sigh for that.
Cassandra explained him the fact that magic is somehow limited but it isn't the same with powers. For instance, they could use magic to stop themselves from aging however they cannot expand someone else's life.
While the ability to use one's powers, depends on the level of cultivation an individual is willing to go through.
He could either choose to be an immortal or a demon to gain such powers, however becoming a demon wasn't easy. It needed an individual to kill and take over another demon's core or slay lives and cultivate on the negative aura to gain the demonic powers.
Zamiel then understood why grandma suggested him to become an immortal, which would just include him seeking for it through the origin of immortal beings.
Yes, with the help of Cassandra, he acknowledged the fact that there exists an origin of immortal beings, which is said to be created by the overlord himself! It being the origin of the eternal powers of immortals.
The myth following that neither one can destroy it, nor can they create any such one, except the overlord himself!
Zamiel expressed his doubt about the existence of the origin of demons, Cassandra nodded for that stating it sure exists but in the Nether world. Where he couldn't reach as of now.
Zamiel knew he had only one option and it is to become an immortal through the help of the origin of immortals.
Zamiel could slowly feel himself becoming strong, for Cassandra didn't only train himself physically but mentally as well. She made him meditate for hours to help him gain focus on his self, his mind and his soul. Helping him concentrate on his spiritual awareness, Cassandra made him learn how to read minds and talk in spiritual ways!
It wasn't easy, demanding a lot of his dedication, however he didn't mind. He would go to any extent for that one possibility of seeing his wife again. Just for that one fortunate possibility.
************
It's been two months with his training and four with the misery of his life; his wife's forever departure.
Now standing right in front of the origin of the immortals, the opportunity to turn his misery into a painful yet sweet patience in hope to see his wife again, stood ahead.
With a courageous inhale, he stepped ahead.
A moment of wonderment took over him to see no being protecting the origin, not even anyone who is trying to achieve its power?!
Wasn't this.... suspicious?!
With a sigh, holding his sword in grip ready to face any expectedly unexpected attack, Zamiel moved forward, having a huge tower of crystals in front of him. A shining golden crystal tower!!
As he kept nearing the tower, erasing the distance slowly, Zamiel suddenly sensed something being wrong. The shadow on the ground alerting him of the attack he was targetted for, instantly making him bend with a twirl.
Now turned back Zamiel, stood up slowly, witnessing a man with a sword standing ahead, his grey gaze furiously dangerous.
Zamiel for a moment was taken aback by the predatory eyes of his, yet instantly snapping himself out of his wonderment, reminding it is not the right time to wonder.
"Who are you?" The man asked with that dominating voice of his.
"Who are you to ask that?" Zamiel questioned back.
"Attitude?!" The man sighed, soon a sinister smirk taking over him, "No problem, I will have you kneel down for me along with your attitude in no time!!"
As soon as the man completed his words, many of his kind appeared behind him, some men were holding their swords while some didn't.
Zamiel might be considered too naive to assume they were just normal human beings like him.
Just as Cassandra has warned him, they were demons!!
Now, he finally needs to fight them?!
A sigh escaped him, he ought to!!
His grip over the sword tightened.
Just a few feet away stood the origin of immortal beings, just few inches away from becoming an immortal, and he here was trapped between these demons.
The only realised fact that becoming an immortal wasn't easy, for if it was, these demons would have took it over or destroyed it, a long time ago.
According to Cassandra's information, the origin itself will not allow any to near it.
Despite of all, the demons presence here only meant they were here to just oppose him, oppose any who wishes to gain the immortality.
Halting his thoughts, the man who warned him previously, suddenly attacked Zamiel.
Zamiel who had dodged the attack however was now surrounded by the men, them choosing to attack him all at once.
Excited to feast upon him.
He, was a normal human being, and all he could do to protect himself was to escape their attacks. And he did so.
But, their demonic powers at use was something really out of his hands to fight, yet the sword he has, the one which was spell casted by Cassandra, helped him in his defense.
He knew the fight could never end, yet he put up his defense strong with the help of all the training he received, his sword being all of his help.
And in the process, he kept nearing the crystal.
They were all to busy in attacking him, to notice his strategy, however as he almost neared the origin, one of the crew did notice it, shouting at him, altering all of his friends. The man who shouted didn't only alert his crew but in the urge to stop him, rushed towards him.
Zamiel moved away and instead of him the man had got himself into contact with the origin.
A heavy beam of light emanated the origin, almost blinding them all for a moment, the man soon having himself threwn away by a strong force from the origin, halting them.
The man's screams echoing all around, loud and clear.
A shocked yet relived sigh escaped Zamiel, thanking God inwardly for he wasn't the one who got in contact with the crystal.
Just how divine was this origin?!
While everyone were busy looking at the just hurt demon, taking advantage of the situation, Zamiel in instant took off the completely black ring, from his finger, throwing it up in the sky.
The small ring soon enlarging itself, a circular green energetic barrier forming around him as the ring fell down on the ground. Some unknown letters of green magically floating within the seemingly transparent barrier.
Zamiel being inside the ring protected by it, soon settled down on the ground with his sword placed beside, shutting his eyes, facing the origin, beginning his meditation.
Everything happened so quickly that the demons were taken aback for a second, however soon summoning back their intent to destroy him, tried to reach him, however the barrier around Zamiel threw them away.
They even began attacking him with their demonic forces.
But the seemingly powerful barrier he had for himself as his defence didn't allow them to succeed, pushing away their forces as well.
Jade's magic was definitely something appreciable.
Neither him nor the ladies knew how strong the demons were and so all they could come up as a strategy was to save some time, to connect with the origin in the proper way.
And the ladies helped him for the needed.
Despite failing at multiple attempts to reach him, the demons didn't accept defeat, putting all of their might into reaching him, fighting against the strong force the black ring emanated.
And ignorant to all of this chaos, Zamiel who had his eyes shut meditated with all of the needed concentration, chanting the name of the origin of the immortal beings.
He knew he couldn't reach the origin but the origin could, and so, here he was, trying to connect with it spiritually rather physically. Asking for its permission to allow him, requesting it to accept his presence and his intent, his wish to attain the immortality.
The demons were getting close, their steps getting heavy with the strongly applied magic force of the ring, yet they were powerful enough to fight back.
While Zamiel meditated, time passed by, from seconds to minutes, and the origin witnessed the constant efforts of the demons and the only human present.
After an hour or so, the already shining crystal tower began to glow even more, spreading its light until it fell on Zamiel. Now the demons knew, that the human is almost turning the impossible to possible, urging them to strengthen their fight, trying to break the barrier.
Zamiel despite remained seated, felt an immense pull in his body as though someone pulled out his soul from his body, the strong feeling forcing him to open his eyes.
His surroundings seemed to have changed, Zamiel finding himself in a completely different environment. There was no ground to stand on, he was floating, in the air, between the clouds which glowed in the divine golden light, sending auspicious chills down his spine.
Where is he?
"This is a piece of eternity the Overlord has created in the beginning of everything and all, my child. The origin of immortality!!" A divine voice echoed around.
Zamiel for a moment found himself speechless, so.....does that mean.....he made it?!
"Witnessing such a dedicated soul after centuries, is indeed an amusement. With that weak yet striving human soul, what did you summon me for?!"
Zamiel gulped, his heart beating faster by every passing moment, "Who...is this?" he asked almost whispered, to make sure he wasn't just dreaming.
"I am the one for whom you risked your life to connect with. I am the existence and the defender of immortality, serving the Overlord. My presence a creation to maintain the stability in the three realms. Now, who are you?"
Zamiel's eyes watered up, controlling himself, he took a deep bow in respect, "My sincere greetings to the origin of immortality! I feel it to be my fortune to have your presence!! I am just a human who is here wishing to attain the immortality."
"It is my request for you to provide me the immortality, I need your help." Zamiel added.
"And you think it's that easy?" The voice questioned. The calmness at such enquiry wondering him for a moment.
"I'm aware of the fact that it isn't easy to attain the immortality, but I'm dedicated. In all of the circumstances, I'll fight for it cause I have no other option."
After a brief pause, the voice responded, "As the defender of the immortality, besides the True Gods, Overlord has gifted me with the power of immortality, to bless and curse one with the immortality and to have the ability to take back what I own. But my child, everything comes with the ability to have it. Do you think as a human, you are deserving enough for the immortality and the powers that comes with it?!"
"As I claimed, I have.....no other option to bring my intentions into reality than attaining immortality. My intentions are pure, and even if I am not yet deserving enough to attain the immortality, I am ready to become the deserved one!" Zamiel bowed again, "Please, help me!" he pleaded.
"Everything comes with a price, what's your pay then?"
Zamiel taken aback felt paused, "What's.... the price?!"
"You have put in all of your dedication into reaching me, but to attain what you wish, dedication alone isn't enough. For blessing you with the immortality, in return, I will take something more precious!"
"Precious to you!!" The voice added.
"So, what do you have to offer?!"
