Zamiel sat beside Amara, watching the woman deeply lost in her sleep. A rush of past memories embraced him. Waves of unhealed wounds washing over his soul. The time when he realised that he lost her, the way she lay lifeless in his arms. Seeing her asleep now, Zamiel couldn't help but fear that moment for a second, his heart skipping a beat at the thought alone.
The demon's words still echoing in his head, his sadistic smile reverberating in every thought of his as he remembered the way how he left him to himself, to find the truth.
Can Amara be an answer to all of his questions?!
Does that mean, Heaven found out the truth?
Was it why....
Zamiel shut his eyes with a devastated sigh. Tears streaming down his cheeks as he adjusted his vision, watching the woman after few blinks. Caressing her hair.
"Would you forgive me for my incapability?" He whispered with a low cry.
"Would you, Heaven?"
Amara stirred in sleep, making Zamiel withdraw his hand almost immediately.
Zamiel didn't know if she had seen him momentarily or not for she immediately took his hand into hers, shifting to his side as she drifted back to sleep.
"Does that count?" Zamiel chuckled low with another tear rolling down his cheek as he disappeared slowly.
Zamiel teleported to grandma's place, sitting in the garden rather disturbing their peaceful sleep. Staring up the silent moon lit sky with a sense of lostness.
"Welcome home, Zamiel!" Jade's heartwarming voice surprised him.
Zamiel turned to watch her standing beside, an armchair soon appearing with her snap in which she now settled.
He could only faintly smile for that as he lay on his back with his hands under head, the soft grass beneath sending peaceful vibes down his spine. A sigh escaped him as he continued stargazing.
"Still awake?" Zamiel asked low.
"Your arrival had to be welcomed!" Jade shrugged.
Zamiel chuckled and silence took over.
Jade watches him in silence, wondering what's on his mind.
"Anything to share?!" The old woman finally asked.
Zamiel remained silent for a moment more before sitting up. "It was a demon!"
"Pardon?"
"The one who killed my father-in-law, and my wife ...!" Zamiel's heart heavy with the revelation.
Jade however didn't find it any difficult to accept it. No wonder she felt a massive negativity when she tried to look into what has happened to Heaven, in the past. "Why did he commit such sin, did you get to know the reason?"
"What exactly happened?!" She, measuring the silence, questioned again.
Zamiel took a brief moment to explain everything that happened moments ago.
Jade provided an understanding nod.
"The incident gives me an impression of mystery that is yet to be discovered, Zamiel!"
Zamiel couldn't help but accept, he knew there happened something in the past that he is yet to know about. But how?!
"Only he or your wife can tell you the truth now, Zamiel." Jade as though reading his mind, answered his unasked question.
Yes! And he neither knew when the demon would reveal the truth nor knew when Amara would regain her past life memories.
"He seemed weak!" Zamiel let out.
"That's something surprising." Jade whispered to herself, "Isn't it more surprising to see him bothering her even after centuries? In her next life too?!"
Her question hung in silence, both wondering the same.
"But the question that remains the same is..." Zamiel turned to the woman, "...where was he till now? Why did he only reach her two years ago and not before if he was really here for Heaven?"
"It may be because he couldn't realise Amara was Heaven back then!", Cassandra who just joined the conversation said with a shrug, sitting beside Zamiel. "You marked her soul so you could recognise her, but did he?" She shook her head.
While Zamiel remained silent, Jade shook her head in a denying way. "That's not the point!"
"It seems to me, there's more to it!!"
"There's this deep emotion that demon has against your wife, in his heart. A wrath that has strengthened over time!"
"But why?" Cassandra wondered.
Zamiel didn't know! Jade failed to look into the past even if she wanted to.
And so he felt helpless.
With no option left than to wait, like he always did. To wait until time reveals the truth itself! Waiting for the events to unfold for him while he remains helpless.
"We will be visiting here tomorrow." Zamiel informed ahead.
"We?" Cassandra wondered.
"Me and Amara!" Zamiel cleared.
Jade nodded thoughtfully, "So, time to let her know?"
Zamiel sighed, "I feel nervous!"
Jade pulled herself up, standing on her feet, the armchair disappearing soon, "I believe you'll do it anyway, all the best!"
Zamiel and Cassandra watched the old lady getting back into the house.
"Did you ever receive such a cold wish in this looongg life of yours?!" Cassandra asked dramatically.
Zamiel laughed before just with a sigh laying back on ground, resting his head on her lap.
Cassandra with a smile caressed his har, "So, finally letting me meet your wife?"
He chuckled low, "She isn't yet!"
Cassandra waved her hand, "I know what might happen in the future, huh!"
Zamiel with a sweet smile turned so he could face her.
Looking up at her, his hand reached out to tuck a strand of her hair, "Is it so?!"
Cassandra nodded witha proud smile.
"Then, whom are you going to marry?"
The unexpected shift of subject made her roll her eyes, "Marriage isn't my cup of tea!!"
"Aah..." Zamiel pretended to be thoughtful, "...is it because you are old already?!"
Cassandra gasped low before twisting his ear, for which he hissed low, "As if you are young enough!!"
Zamiel laughed out loud, "Seems like we share the same boat!!"
Cassandra smiled with a shook of head.
As she watched him laugh, which only subceeded by time.
"Hey Zamiel, don't worry. Everything will go well. Your waiting will not go in vain." Cassandra assured.
Zamiel smiled faintly, hoping for the same.
************
Amara kept shifting sides on the bed, her face covered in sweat. Her closed eyes rolling constantly as she found herself lost in those nightmares again.
'You were just an experimental piece!!' a voice echoed.
Her grip on the sheets tightening.
'Trust me, this will be our secret!!' another voice echoed.
Flashes of images displaying which she couldn't take a hold of, her heart pumping faster and faster.
'Nobody will dare to judge you, I assure!!' a firm voice reverberating and a gentle female voice following it soon; 'You're a part of our family now!!'
'I'll always love you my dear daughter!!'
Her heart clenching, the constant voices bothering her, suffocating her.
'Your sin will surely be punished' seemingly her own voice echoing with wrath she couldn't comprehend.
Amara's hands clutched her chest, as though holding onto her dear heart and life. Murmuring things so faint to even be heard.
'I'll chase you down to death!!' the voice reverberated through her entire presence as she shot her eyes open with a scream.
Amara felt out of breath, her heart racing by every passing second.
Feeling short of air she still looked at her surroundings, finding it difficult to absorb the reality for a second.
So, it was a dream?
But what was that?!
It wasn't new for her to have nightmares but this one was something different.
Amara tried to stable her breath, still lost in the fragrances of the dream she had.
When she felt comfortable enough, she sighed, "That was crazy!!" she murmured to herself, adjusting her hair which stubbornly was stuck over her sweaty face.
However, glimpses of having Zamiel beside took a hold of her. His teary eyes wondering her.
Was that a dream too?!
She sighed, whether or not, they all felt too real to be a dream.
Leaning back, Amara tried to process her dream. Despite seeing glimpses of particular scenes, she couldn't remember any except the voices that had an impact so strong to even be forgotten.
She never had such dream, what was it all about??
The dream and the thoughts together now gifted her a headache.
Halting her thoughts, a knock soon echoed following it the door creaked open.
Sarah peeked through the half opened door, "Are you up?!"
Amara stared her for a moment, still somehow lost in her thoughts.
"Are you okay?!" Sarah asked worried, reaching her slowly.
A shook of denial escaped Amara, "I'm alright!"
Sarah pondered over the response and finally decided to believe it with a nod, "We are waiting for you, won't you join for the breakfast?!"
Amara nodded understandingly.
Sarah with a shook, forced her to get on her feet, almost pushing her into the bathroom, "Hurry up!!" Sarah screamed low.
Amara could only chuckle at her.
Sarah descending the stairs, went straight to kitchen, to help her aunt arrange the dining table.
Ralph watched her with a smile, knowing the woman is more than happy to help her aunt, spending time with her after years. With a happy heart, he joined them as well.
Harry who just got in from the garden, took a seat at the dining table, and everyone as well joined.
"She's still not up?!" Harry wondered.
"She's just lazy, unlike me." Sarah said with a proud smile, "Look at me, I got up early and even helped aunt to prepare the breakfast!!"
Ralph smiled while Harry chuckled, "Alright, I accept you are better!!"
"Are you siding with her now?!" Amara asked with a pout, reaching them.
With a disappointed shook, she settled beside her father, "That's very disappointing!!"
Harry pretended to be bothered, "Seems like I have dragged myself into a problem!"
They all laughed, beginning to have their breakfast.
Their hearts swelling up with happiness, among each other's presence, after a really depressing time spent for years.
"Well shall we leave?!" Sarah asked, gulping down the last drop of water from her glass.
Ralph nodded as well, "Oliver wouldn't be working with us, so we would have more work on our plate!" a sigh escaping him.
Sarah nodded in agreement, however, Amara gave a shook. "I'm on a leave today!!" Her statement surprising them.
Even before they could clarify their wonderment, the ring of calling bell echoed, Sarah rushing towards the entrance to open the door. However, surprised to see Zamiel standing ahead, Sarah remained silent, making the wondered Ralph reach them.
Ralph took a moment to digest his presence and finally smiled, welcoming him in.
As Zamiel reached them, Isobel and Harry were taken aback too while Amara smiled at him, "You are here!!"
Zamiel nodded assuringly, shifting his gaze towards her parents, "Goodmorning!"
They just smiled, not knowing what would happen later. The man said he would let their daughter know the truth, but he didn't specify as of when. Was he here for the same reason? Is he already ready to let it out to her?!
"I'm here to ask her out, if you permit so!" Zamiel softly requested, awaiting their response.
They all pondered over it, while considering how Amara already declared she's on a leave, it only seemed she was willing to go with him.
"If she's okay with it...." Harry looked at his daughter briefly, receiving a nod from her, "...then definitely!"
Zamiel smiled, "Thankyou!!" and almost immediately, his gaze settled over her, waiting for her.
Amara was quick enough get on her feet, grabbing her purse, planting a quick kiss on their parent's cheek, waving a 'see-you' to her friends before getting out.
They could only sigh seeing the excited her.
"We hopefully will return early, worry not!!" Zamiel assured, before initiating to head out.
They just watched them leave as well.
"Will she be...okay?!" Isobel probably worrying about the outcome.
"Cannot delay the action in fear of consequences!" Harry said in a low voice, almost as if to himself.
Sarah and Ralph could only exchange glances in silence, fearing the future.
Amara waited for Zamiel, standing near the gate, and a smile took over her as she watched him walking towards her.
"We will drive!!" Zamiel informed.
She took a moment to process before bobbing her head in excitement, "And where are we going?!"
He smiled, "You'll get to know!!"
