Chapter 57: The real exam began before entering the examination room

The physical training is much harder than what Shisui had in mind. Before this, he usually exercised his body through running, and rarely ran to the point of exhaustion.

But today is different. Shisui almost went through exercises for every part of the body. After completing eight hundred push-ups, Shisui felt that his arms no longer belonged to him. After eight hundred squats, his legs felt as heavy as lead, and after eight hundred sit-ups, his abdomen ached.

After completing all these basic exercises, Shisui, sitting next to the tree, felt that he had lost control of his body. Usually, watching Might Guy train vigorously doesn't feel like much, but when he himself does it, he realizes how uncomfortable it is.

Towards the end, he almost relied on willpower to endure. His body's sensory perception had become blurry, relying only on willpower to complete the mechanical repetitive movements.

Shisui almost couldn't resist using Chakra to assist in his movements; it was just too exhausting. Imagine, sweat continuously streaming down, blurring your vision. The salt in it makes your eyes uncomfortable. Every move of your heavy limbs is a test of willpower and strength, but you can't stop because you haven't reached the training goal yet.

"Four hundred twelve, four hundred thirteen..."

Watching Might Guy, who is still doing frog jump training not far away, Shisui couldn't help but feel admiration. He and Might Guy started training almost together. Might Guy's movements are even more challenging than his. While Shisui does push-ups, Might Guy does push-ups with an additional weight, carrying a stone on his back.

Even so, within the same timeframe, Might Guy does more than him. Even after he's exhausted, Might Guy still has the strength to continue training. In pure Taijutsu combat, Shisui wouldn't lose to Might Guy; he might even be stronger. However, when it comes to physical strength alone, he lags far behind Might Guy.

When Might Guy took a break, Shisui couldn't help but ask, "Guy, you've been training regularly before, right? You can handle such a massive training volume."

Might Guy nodded and replied, "I started before joining the Academy; my father trained me back then."

Upon hearing Might Guy's words, Shisui felt a bit melancholic and envious because he had lost his parents at that age. Shisui believed that if his parents were still alive at that time, they would have taught him Ninja knowledge.

"Do you feel too tired to complete the training, Shisui? I have a training secret here. Would you like to hear it?" Might Guy decided to share the training method his father passed down to him with Shisui.

Although they didn't have the same family relationship as Obito and Shisui, and their interactions weren't very frequent, training together and sharing meals had made Might Guy see Shisui as a trustworthy companion.

"What secret?" Shisui became interested.

"Exercise self-restraint, treat these completed exercises as a challenge. If the challenge isn't completed, accept punishment, such as doing an additional five hundred push-ups if you fail to finish three thousand on time," said Might Guy.

"Forcing oneself by putting on mental shackles is indeed a good training method," Shisui thought for a moment and remarked. He felt that Might Guy's approach had a similarity to Mutsuki's approach to battle problems.

Shisui didn't expect Might Guy, who seemed rough and straightforward, to come up with such a self-motivating method.

"It's pretty effective. My father taught me this. Every time I face a challenging task, I impose self-restraint," Might Guy scratched his head and chuckled.

"Your father must be a formidable Jonin," praised Shisui. Seeing the kind of person Might Guy turned out to be, he believed that Might Guy's father must have been exceptional.

"Haha, just a Genin, but I think my father is amazing," Might Guy laughed heartily.

Even though he's been a Genin for years, it doesn't hinder Might Guy from believing in his father's strength.

"Genin..." Shisui looked somewhat surprised, becoming even more curious about Might Guy's father.

Considering Might Guy's age, his father must be at least twenty-eight, and being in his thirties would be normal. Being a Genin at this age is a rare situation.

"I have a Chakra utilization technique related to Taijutsu. Let's discuss it," Shisui suggested, offering something in return.

...

At the Academy, inside the classroom for the first-year class.

"The first part of the Ninjutsu theory class concludes here. There are two weeks left until the final exams. Let's focus on reviewing and preparing for the exams," Mutsuki said.

Originally, the material could have been covered in a week, but Mutsuki went through it quickly, leaving two weeks for revision.

"Don't forget my dango, Yumi-sensei," Anko spoke up.

"As long as you perform well, your dango is guaranteed," Mutsuki smiled.

"Yumi-sensei, I want snacks," Kotetsu raised his hand.

"Focus on preparing for the exams, and there will be rewards when the time comes," Mutsuki organized his materials and said.

Ring, ring, ring—the dismissal bell rang quickly, accompanied by a system message.

[Lecture Completed]

[Evaluation: A]

[Reward: Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Flower Nail Crimson]

Mutsuki nodded to himself as he picked up the lesson plan. This Fire Release Ninjutsu seemed to be quite practical.

"Reviewing for two weeks feels exhausting just thinking about it," Kotetsu complained.

"Then don't review; you're not always paying attention in class anyway," Izumo suggested.

Due to Kotetsu's unreliability, Izumo felt he had to rely on himself to find a girlfriend. He had already inquired, and the girl next door also attends the Academy, in the first year, class six.

He's planning to secure the top spot in the theoretical exams and then use that position to get closer.

While Kotetsu scored a bit lower than him in the last exam, the recent mock exams show little difference between them. Izumo feels that Kotetsu is a formidable competitor for the first position. That's why he wants Kotetsu to give up on the idea of reviewing.

"Not reviewing sounds good. My cousin once told me that sometimes facing exams with a more relaxed attitude, without reviewing too much, can actually lead to better results." Kotetsu nodded.

In fact, Kotetsu's initial complaint was a setup for this statement. He wanted Izumo to abandon the idea of reviewing, so that he, Kotetsu, could strive for the top position.

Because he had boasted in front of Mei that he could secure the top spot in the theoretical exams, Izumo became his main rival for the first position.

"Really? Is that true?" Anko was somewhat intrigued, feeling that reviewing for two weeks was tiring.

Kotetsu and Izumo nodded in agreement.

"Shisui, do you usually review for exams?" Anko asked Shisui from behind.

Shisui shook his head; he remembered everything from class.

Seeing even someone like Shisui, who secured the top spot in the last theoretical exam, saying this, Anko's eyes instantly lit up. She felt like she might not need to review either.

"Well then, let's hang out together this weekend," Anko invited the two good friends.

"No, I have something to do at home this weekend," Kotetsu declined, shaking his head. He didn't want to go out; he just wanted to study and secure the first position.

"And what about you, Izumo?" Anko turned to Izumo.

Izumo also shook his head, saying, "There's a lot going on at my house lately, so I can't make it."

Having finally persuaded them to avoid reviewing, he, of course, planned to stay at home and study hard.

"Oh, I see. I'll find someone else to hang out with then," Anko didn't doubt their words.

The real exam had already started on the sidelines, and Anko had already been eliminated.
