Chapter 184: Guy's Excitement

Duy and Mutsuki entered the house together.

"Dad, welcome home," Guy said, startled when he saw Duy's appearance as he walked in.

Duy was all green, no, he was wearing a green Chunin vest!

It was still very recognizable because Duy usually only wore a green bodysuit, so adding a vest was easy to spot.

"Dad, could it be that the very impressive and youthful thing you mentioned is...?" Guy's eyes gradually lit up, his voice becoming more and more excited.

He thought of a possibility, one that made him very happy.

"Yes, it's exactly as you think!" Duy laughed heartily.

Duy gave himself a thumbs-up, revealing his white teeth as he laughed heartily at Guy, saying:

"Now I'm not just Konoha Genin Duy, I'm Konoha Chunin Duy!"

"Dad, you've finally been promoted to Chunin. No one can say you're a perpetual Genin anymore," Guy said excitedly, going straight to hug Duy.

Duy hugged Guy back, both of them shedding tears of joy, looking extremely excited.

Guy was happy that no one could call his father a perpetual Genin anymore, while Duy was happy that he could provide more support to Guy.

Obito scratched his head, somewhat unable to understand the scene. In Obito's understanding, Chunin wasn't that impressive, right? After all, Kakashi became a Chunin at the age of six.

But Obito could still feel the strong bond between Guy and Duy.

Shisui looked at the deep father-son bond and thought of his own cherished blade, feeling no excessive envy.

Kakashi is the one who understands the significance of Duy becoming a Chunin the most. He and Guy have known each other for a long time. Even when they went to check their entrance exam scores, Kakashi's dad could see Guy's potential. He said that he could be friends with Guy and that someday Guy might surpass him.

So Kakashi knows a bit about Guy's family situation too. Unlike his own father, Guy's father, Duy, isn't a famous and powerful ninja. He's just a despised perpetual Genin.

Duy doesn't care much about what others say, but Guy does. He doesn't allow anyone to insult his father to his face. He didn't even consider their strength before seeking revenge on those ninja who spoke ill of his father. If Kakashi hadn't happened to pass by and dealt with those two ninja, they would have surely given him a severe beating.

Now that Duy has become a Chunin, any talk of him being a perpetual Genin is meaningless. It's easy to imagine how happy and excited Guy must be.

"Guy, you should thank Yumi-sensei more. It's thanks to Yumi-sensei that I was able to be promoted this time," Duy said earnestly, placing his hand on Guy's shoulder.

Mutsuki's help to their family was indeed significant. Aside from helping with the introduction to the Third Hokage and providing secret medicine, just being Guy's sensei, Mutsuki had gone above and beyond in this regard, considering every aspect.

"Um, Yumi-sensei, thank you for everything you've done for me. I'm really grateful!" Guy said, tears streaming down his face again, overcome with emotion.

Reflecting on his acquaintance with Mutsuki up to now, Guy sometimes felt a surreal sense of fantasy.

From Mutsuki, Guy truly felt that similar unconditional affection he received from Duy, both genuinely kind and not seeking anything in return, just happy to see him grow.

But Guy didn't expect Mutsuki to go this far, even helping his father to be promoted and escape the perpetual Genin status.

This exceeded Guy's expectations. He thought Mutsuki had already been good enough to him, generously teaching him powerful forbidden techniques like Stone Breathing and providing free secret medicine every month to alleviate fatigue and hidden injuries.

Having reached this level, Guy naturally harbored no hint of dissatisfaction. In his heart, Mutsuki had always been second only to Duy.

But Mutsuki helping Duy get promoted this time made Guy realize even more deeply how good Mutsuki had been to him.

Though Mutsuki hadn't given a gift at this moment, Guy felt he had already received the best birthday present. He sensed Mutsuki's sincerity.

"It's also because Senpai has the strength himself; I just did what I could." Mutsuki smiled and then took out a handkerchief to wipe away Guy's tears.

This was something he wouldn't usually do because it felt a bit excessive, but the timing and atmosphere were just right.

"After all, you're the all-powerful Mutsuki, Sensei." Obito chuckled, then pulled out a green bodysuit and handed it to Guy.

"This is a gift; I specially had it custom-made. There's even 'Guy' written on the chest."

Guy took the bodysuit and unfolded it, as Obito had said, there was indeed the word "Guy" embroidered on the front chest area.

"Obito, very tasteful!" Guy praised, giving Obito a thumbs-up. He was very pleased with Obito's gift.

"I thought you'd like wearing bodysuits every day, Guy," Obito said, wearing a smug smile.

"This is my drawing," Rin said gently, offering her gift.

Guy took the painting and examined it carefully. It depicted their usual scene of training in the forest, not only featuring Guy but also other people.

Guy was lifting rocks, sweating profusely; Shisui was seriously practicing Fire Release, with a large fireball in front of him; Obito was holding his head, saying something; Mutsuki was instructing them. Overall, the layout looked very heartwarming.

"Haha, it's a great drawing. Obito's expression from being hit is just like usual," Guy laughed.

"What? What got hit?" Obito curiously leaned forward and happened to see the part where he was struck.

"Why is everyone else training while I'm getting hit? Rin-chan, you have a deep misunderstanding of me," Obito said, looking pained.

"I thought it would be more fun this way," Rin replied with a light laugh, covering her mouth.

Shisui gave Guy weighted training gear, while Kakashi gave him several training secret medicines.

"This is a notebook of Taijutsu insights that your father and I wrote together. Even if we're not around in the future, you can still use the experiences in this notebook for your training," Mutsuki smiled, handing a notebook to Guy.

"Guy, your youth is constantly moving forward!" Duy encouraged with a big laugh.

Guy nodded heavily. At that moment, a breeze came and blew the notebook open. Guy saw various experiences about the Eight Inner Gates and Stone Breathing, noticing two distinctly different handwriting styles.

Guy envisioned the scene of the two of them brainstorming and writing down their insights together, once again shedding tears of joy and excitement.

"Yumi-sensei, Dad, thank you for your gifts. I will definitely not disappoint your expectations!"

Mutsuki smiled brightly, feeling like he hit the jackpot.
