Chapter 458: The Completion of the Weave

In the original design, the materials required to build the Weave included dozens of magical metals and alloys, but the current level of metallurgy and magical technology was far from adequate.

Murphy had to settle for less, discarding those highly precise but material-demanding designs and revising the plans several times until he could complete the entire Weave node using just adamantine—magical brass.

Dozens of carts carrying forged adamantine were brought to the edge of the pit. With a wave of his hand, Murphy lifted the metal ingots into the air, wrapping them in his magic.

A flame appeared out of thin air, melting the copper ingots into a single massive glob of molten metal.

The adamantine produced by the wizards varied greatly in quality, so Murphy needed to refine it further.

Meanwhile, the flame he used was the cursed fire from Ragnarok, which added extra properties to the adamantine, enabling it to absorb and repair itself with the magic flowing through it, preventing degradation over long-term use.

During the secondary refinement, impurities were expelled, and thorough mixing made the adamantine more uniform. After several minutes of adjustment, the adamantine finally met Murphy's standards.

A highly intricate, circuit-like 3D design appeared in Murphy's mind. This was the magical structure for the Weave node he had devised.

As the first magic node, it not only needed to distribute and circulate magic but also to adjust it for various users' magical needs.

This complex structure was the "circuit" of the magic node. If likened to something, it would be the "motherboard" of a computer, connecting all the key modules and distributing energy—magic—to achieve various functions.

The liquid metal glob split into nine parts, each floating above the pit. From the bottom of each sphere, a tentacle-like channel extended downwards, thinning as it approached the ceramic structure at the bottom of the pit, until it became finer than a needle point at the contact point.

Then, the precise carving began. The tips of the nine tentacles moved rapidly over the hard ceramic, adjusting their depth as they cut intricate grooves.

Simultaneously, the golden adamantine quickly filled these grooves, forming an elaborate and beautiful circuit pattern at the bottom of the pit.

This was just the beginning. After the first layer of carving and filling was complete, Murphy melted and compressed the rock above it, forming a ceramic layer with slightly different properties, covering the first circuit. He then began the second layer of carving and filling.

This process was repeated hundreds of times until most of the adamantine had been used up, and the magic circuit "motherboard" was complete.

This was not just a complex circuit board but also a large-scale, integrated magic memristor chip capable of storing and processing information and data if necessary. However, its primary design was to adjust and distribute magic.

Hundreds of slots were left on the "motherboard," into which Murphy placed a pile of real magic chips from his storage ring.

These chips were the computational core of the magic node and the hardware for the Weave's neural network model.

Next, Murphy started creating other functional modules, such as the magic sensing module, the magic amplification module, and the magic radar module.

Once all the modules were complete, he melted the rock again, encapsulating the entire Weave node in a cylindrical form, finishing the "packaging."

At this point, the hardware for the Weave node was complete. The next step was to infuse the polar magic extracted from the wizards into the Weave node through a ritual.

In theory, this magic would serve as the initial energy source and foundational material for the Weave node. However, the wizards' magic was insufficient in quality and polarity, so the ritual was largely for show. The real magical power came from Murphy.

This ritual was crucial as it conveyed to the observing godchildren that constructing the Weave required the participation of many wizards. While Murphy's influence was undeniable, the Weave couldn't be completed solely by him, suggesting his control over it might be limited.

At that moment, hundreds of wizards surrounded the pit, chanting lengthy incantations under the guidance of Murphy's thirteen disciples. Before them were dozens of crystals of various colors, containing the recently extracted polar magic.

As they chanted, the crystals glowed and dimmed, their polar magic flowing into the magic node, which absorbed it.

Meanwhile, Murphy covertly injected some of the divine magic he had collected from Ragnarok into the node.

He controlled the pace and properties of the magical infusion to match the wizards' magic.

He did this very discreetly, even using the divine power from his identity as Loki, the god of tricks and lies, to ensure that even true gods wouldn't detect any flaws.

However, the quality and level of divine magic were fundamentally different from wizard magic. Even though the godchildren didn't have Murphy's direct magic observation abilities, they could feel the rapid increase in magical energy within the node.

"He seems to be telling the truth! This Weave really seems to enhance magic," said one godchild.

"But how is that possible? The magic of those weak wizards couldn't possibly reach this level. It feels like there are several true gods standing in that pit."

"That's the wonder of the Weave!" another godchild responded.

"Or it's just a hoax."

"A hoax? What kind of hoax could gather so much divine power? Did he wipe out an entire pantheon?"

Of course not. Not even the Christian God could do that. If someone could, there would be no need for trickery; they could simply crush all other gods.

Unable to find a better explanation, the skeptics turned to Cú Chulainn. "Cú Chulainn, what do you think?"

"No need to rush. Whether it's real or fake, we'll know soon."

After a long while, the ritual finally concluded. Seventy-two polar magical energies rose from the node, their presence briefly visible before dissipating, leaving everything in calm.

Just as everyone thought the ritual had failed, a unique wave passed through the minds of all the wizards.

In an instant, they felt as if all their pores were opening, as though they were exchanging information with the entire space and world. The magic within them began to fluctuate in sync with this exchange, like breathing.

The next moment, they felt like they had suddenly gained something. It was a subtle sensation, like suddenly understanding some knowledge, realizing some truths, or mastering certain movements. It was as if they had acquired a new ability or grown an imaginary limb or organ.

They exclaimed in amazement. The feeling was so wonderful, as if they were rediscovering the world and touching reality for the first time.

The distant mountains had never been so clear, the birdsong so melodious, even the sand between their fingers and the breeze on their cheeks felt like unprecedented experiences.

At that moment, someone tried to grasp this sensation and gently pushed a thought.

In the next instant, a spark ignited in the palm of that wizard.

Startled by the sudden flame, he threw it away, nearly setting another wizard on fire.

In the ensuing chaos, someone finally understood what had happened and shouted in astonishment, "Magic!"

No incantations, no gestures, no complicated rituals—magic created by sheer thought.

As wizards who had lived in confusion for decades, they had finally grasped magic for the first time.
