Chapter 13: Escape 2

She dragged him along, running across the treehouses. Ethan tried to stop her, but found she had considerable strength, so he just allowed her to have her way. She dragged him as they entered a treehouse which Cassandra and Derrick had forbidden him from entering. Speaking of Derrick, he hadn't seen him since he came to find Cassandra.

As she opened the door, a faint, dried smell of blood assaulted his nose, and he scrunched his face in disgust. He saw human bones on an altar, and Derrick sharpening a large knife. A chill passed through his body as he shook in fear. Trying to calm himself, he turned, asking, 'Cassandra, what's the meaning of…?'

Ethan gasped in terror as he gazed at the monstrosity in front of him. Cassandra had six spider legs where her waist and legs were supposed to be, her upper body naked as her breasts danced in the air. Her mouth reached her ears as she smiled, and asked, her voice emitting guttural sounds as she spoke, 'E...et...Ethan my d..ear, am I beautiful?'

With a pale face, he moved backwards, bumping into Derrick, who had transformed into a spider-man with four legs, even more hideous than Cassandra. They both let out a menacing laugh as they eyed Ethan. Ethan gasped with fear as he caught sight of an opening in the treehouse. He charged forward recklessly, without abandon, as he jumped through the hole. Behind him were Cassandra's angry roars: 'Stop him! He's the most perfect sacrifice for the ritual!'"

Ethan ran with all his might as he raced across the once familiar forest that now resembled a the mouth of a monster ready to devour him whole.

Suddenly, he spotted vehicles blocking his path. The FBI and mafia were closing in, one of them shot upon seeing him immediately opened fire and shot him in his thigh clearly trying to disable him.

In desperation, he looked for an escape and saw a waterfall nearby. Gritting his teeth, he leaped into the water, letting it carry him downstream.

The mafia and feds shouted in frustration as they chased after him, but the water masked his movements. He was swept into a dark cave beneath the waterfall, dragging himself across the rocky floor, pain shooting through his body.

As he reached a stone half the size of a boulder, he stared up at the sky, contemplating his fate. *I guess I had a nice run,* he thought bitterly. But the barking of dogs and the shouts of men echoed closer, and he knew he had to make a choice.
