My head felt like it was in a giant bubble. Caleb was still speaking to me, but I couldn't hear a single word that he was saying.

Three words were echoing in my head on constant repeat… "Paul is missing."

Every so slowly, as if I was about to break, Caleb brought me out of my lab and upstairs, where the others were waiting for us.

"I told you to wait," grunted Travis, his voice sounding like it was miles away, even though he was standing right in front of me.

"I didn't want her to think that we were ambushing her," grunted Caleb as each man took one of my hands and brought me over to the sectional. "I honestly don't think she can take anything more."

"Do you blame her?" sneered Lucien, placing something in my cupped hands after Travis and Caleb let them go. I looked down, only to see a plain white cup with hot chocolate in it.
