Part Two - New World - Chapter [049]

Inside this room we found a small box, just big enough to fit one person, but it had handles on the side. That's weird.

"What's this box?" I asked.

"I used to camp out here a lot, and some adventurers would come from the village with things to sell," Arslan got me up to speed.

"This one seems abandoned," he mentioned.

It looked fin to me.

I grabbed it and took it outside.

"Come on - I have an idea," I said.

Now outside I placed the box on the ground and got into it.

"Okay let's do this," I said. The box was big enough to fit me just right, I had a small frame so fitting it was tight squeeze. But nothing I couldn't endure.

"I getcha," Arslan said and lowered himself in a squat for him to use the strands on the side like a satchel.

The ride became a little bumpy.

"Do I weigh you down?" I asked.

"Not even a little bit," he said and started climbing the tower. Straight up I trusted him completely

The tower was a good 700 ft up in the sky, but Arslan was climbing them without even breaking a sweat. I could be a passenger to this ride and not worry about having to look down.

It was almost relaxing, Arslan grunts became rhythmic, and I just got to enjoy the breeze.

When we got up the tower, he had indeed broken into a sweat. But nothing I couldn't handle. One potion later and he was back to normal. With a refreshing ah~.

It was like he had never actually pushed me 700 ft into the air.

I noticed a lever up top and pulled it, only to reveal an elevator going all the way down to that room we had been earlier.

So up here, it seemed the only thing left to do was to actually activate the beacon. And so we did. It shined with a blue shimmer as I approach the pedestal and opened up itself to a small screen. A map which immediately got added to my inventory. It was only of this area though, which I felt we had already explored anyway.

Then some info.

Orientators Active : 2

Miasma Destroyed : 25%

Then it displayed a weather forecast.

It showed more maps but didn't add them to my inventory!

"Hey take a look at this," I said to Arslan and he came back to me he had gotten distracted by the scenery.

"This is -" he started. "This is a miasma report." He said intrigued.

"Look-" he pointed to a place South East.

"That's saddle mountain," he continued.

"That's were we're going next,"

I didn't usually watch TV as my phone was usually receiving most of my screen time, but I had watched some news and knew how to interpret a graph like this. In this case the graph was purple, and it seemed like a cloud of dense miasma was fast approaching.

The color was dark - pitch black.

That was a cloud full of darkness.

And it seemed like it was about to hit a big city.

Not only that it was the city of L'reus.

Our leisurely stroll, suddenly became urgent.
