Chapter 229: Plea

Every word in my tongue had become lost once I heard this.

For the longest time I had thought Darius was just the way he was because that was him, but…it never crossed my mind that…he was that way, because someone tried to make him…a monster.

I think on Darius' grandfather, and how he could do such a thing to Darius, when he was just a child.

My head instantly goes to the memory I saw of Darius in the wild with his grandfather, and I remember how the end of that memory was.

Which means, his grandfather is probably a different man now.

"Now, don't get me wrong." Darius says, calling my attention. "My grandfather isn't all bad." He says this with a chuckle I can tell is feigned. "He does care for me, I found this out the hard way." My thoughts drift to that memory. "It's just…I'm afraid he is disappointed in me."
