Jiwon and Changho walked around the food court, blending with a handful of other shoppers, as they contemplated where to stop for food. Jiwon finally decided on a stall selling egg drop sandwiches as the final destination. While Changho got in queue to order, Jiwon shopped at the other stalls nearby.

"Daddy, I want the egg waffles with lots of strawberries and ice-cream!" A cheery girlish voice ran past Jiwon's back.

Immediately, Jiwon froze in place as she held her breath. Her shoes were glued to the floor. She didn't dare turn around. Even though the mall was crowded and noisy, it was as if Jiwon's ears were wired to pick up on that child's voice. It was as if Jiwon had the supernatural ability to discern that sweet girly voice anywhere, anytime. She had heard that voice so many times on her phone that she had lost count. All the noises in the world seemed to have ceased. Her heart pinched in yearning and nervousness.
