Despite telling herself she would get over this heartsick feeling, the self-hypnosis hadn't been exactly successful. It had been nearly three days since she had made that outrageous request to Jang Woosuk, but he had never given her a definite answer. She was starting to lose hope.
As the wintry weather seeped into her bones, Jiwon stood in the wind and shuddered, allowing the iciness to creep into the empty spaces of her heart.
Winter was the hardest. When it was cold and somber outside, when everyone was getting ready to spend the holidays with their family, when the retail shops began putting up homely Christmas decorations; it was when Jiwon ached the most. She watched as children ran around the sidewalk, chasing after their friends and laughing without a care in the world as their foggy breaths evaporated in the air.
