Chapter 426: Failure Before Success

At this moment, there was significant commotion within the Osborn Tower. Initially, Norman Osborn forcefully injecting the serum didn't cause much disturbance, but after he killed the scientist and stormed out of the laboratory, the alarms in the Osborn Tower blared.

When the Osborn Corporation executives tried to access the surveillance footage to see what had happened, they found that all the cameras had been destroyed at some unknown time, and they couldn't reach Norman Osborn.

This caused panic within the Osborn Corporation. They feared that not only had a scientist been involved in the incident, but also Norman Osborn himself. The idea that Norman Osborn had killed the scientist hadn't even crossed their minds.

After all, if Norman Osborn wanted to kill a scientist, he had much more discreet ways of doing it without causing such a fuss. For a magnate like Osborn, a scientist's life wasn't worth much.

So, the Osborn Corporation executives began searching for Norman Osborn, urging him to come forward and take charge. Although Norman Osborn's position in the Osborn Corporation wasn't as pivotal as Tony Stark's in Stark Industries, any mishap to Osborn would cause a significant drop in the company's stock prices.

Thus, these executives weren't just concerned about Osborn's safety but also worried about potential financial losses.

Despite their efforts, they couldn't find any trace of Norman Osborn. Even Harry Osborn appeared at the company with a distressed expression, but Norman was nowhere to be found.

However, it was clear that Harry Osborn couldn't turn things around. He hadn't even started learning about managing the company, so how could he handle the affairs of the Osborn Corporation?

No secret can remain hidden forever. News of Norman Osborn's disappearance and the murder at Osborn Corporation eventually leaked, causing the company's stock price to plummet.

Norman Osborn, however, paid no attention to these matters. The Osborn Corporation was important, but compared to his and his son's lives, it was insignificant.

If he couldn't obtain the research results from Spider-Man, his son wouldn't survive, and the Osborn lineage would end. What good was all the money in the Osborn Corporation then?

Determined, Norman Osborn began implementing his plan. He retrieved his prepared personal combat equipment and increased its firepower in a secret base.

Once ready, a transformed Norman Osborn, now the Green Goblin, rode his Goblin Glider out of the base and began causing havoc in the city.

Osborn knew that Spider-Man was a superhero and would inevitably show up if he caused enough chaos. Armed to the teeth, Osborn was confident he could defeat Spider-Man.

He believed Spider-Man wasn't much stronger than him. With his equipment and the Goblin Glider, he felt he could easily outmatch Spider-Man.

Osborn's initial plan seemed promising. As he started causing destruction in the city, Peter Parker, who was swinging around the streets, received a message from JARVIS and quickly headed to the scene.

"Hey! You in the green suit, that's some impressive gear you've got. Did you make it yourself? If so, you're quite a talent. It's a shame you're not using your skills for good," Peter shouted to attract Osborn's attention as he attacked the police.

"Hmm? He's here!" Osborn's eyes lit up as he heard Peter's voice. Turning around, he saw Spider-Man hanging in mid-air. As Osborn turned, Spider-Man shot a web to try and bind him.

With a swift move, Osborn dodged the web and fired bullets at Peter.

The Goblin Glider seemed equipped with a Gatling gun, spraying bullets at high speed and in dense numbers. Osborn didn't hold back, intending to capture Spider-Man dead or alive.

However, Osborn underestimated Peter Parker. If Peter were a novice, these bullets might have posed a threat, but Peter, who had trained in Qi and later gained thunder powers, was much stronger than a typical Spider-Man, especially in terms of defense.

With his Spider-Sense, Peter acrobatically maneuvered through the air, effortlessly avoiding Osborn's fire.

"Everyone, back off! This guy's firepower is probably more than just this," Peter called out to the police, ensuring their safety.

Osborn's attack had elevated the situation to a superhuman level, beyond what ordinary police could handle. Their standard weapons couldn't penetrate Osborn's armor or damage the Goblin Glider.

"Damn! How is his reaction speed so fast? How is his body so agile?" Osborn's face darkened as he realized Peter was evading his attacks with ease. He couldn't let Spider-Man escape.

"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"

Osborn activated the Goblin Glider's next weapon, switching from the Gatling gun to energy attacks. The glider was equipped with energy sources, though not as advanced as Tony Stark's Arc Reactor, capable of launching energy blasts.

These energy attacks were far more formidable than the previous bullets unless the Gatling gun also fired energy rounds.

"Zzz!" "Boom!"

However, what happened next surprised Osborn even more. Peter's webs, charged with electricity, collided with the energy blasts, causing explosions.

This left Osborn confused. He couldn't tell if Peter's powers were natural or if he had some high-tech gear producing the electric attacks.

"Bang!" Before Osborn could figure it out, Peter burst through the smoke from the explosions and kicked Osborn, sending him and his glider flying.

Since Osborn was attached to the glider, he didn't fly far. The glider's propulsion system kicked in, and Osborn quickly flew off in another direction.

Osborn realized he had underestimated Spider-Man. He decided to upgrade his gear further before attempting to capture Peter again.

"He's running?" Peter thought he could knock Osborn off the glider with that kick but was surprised when Osborn remained attached and fled.

If Peter had Mjolnir, he could easily chase down the glider, but without it, even though he could still wield lightning, he had lost his ability to fly.

Not just Peter, but even Thor couldn't fly without Mjolnir. They hadn't reached the level where they could fly independently, especially after Peter abandoned Qi training.

If Peter saw Jackie Chan and Jade now, he might feel envious.

"That glider is interesting. Another science freak?" Peter pondered, watching Osborn flee. He decided not to pursue since he could wait for JARVIS to track Osborn.

With that, Peter nodded to the police, who were relieved. They knew that without Spider-Man, Osborn's rampage could have continued, endangering civilians and themselves.

"JARVIS, did you find him?" Peter contacted JARVIS after leaving, hoping to locate Osborn.

"Sorry, Spider-Man, he's gone," JARVIS replied. After entering a rundown residential area, Osborn had vanished, clearly following a pre-planned escape route.

"Where could he be? I can't reach him. Could he really be in trouble?" Harry Osborn, pale and worried, anxiously awaited news of his father. He couldn't handle the affairs of Osborn Corporation, so he focused on finding Norman, to no avail.

"A supervillain known as the 'Green Goblin' appeared in the city, causing massive destruction. Fortunately, Spider-Man arrived in time to stop the Green Goblin, once again protecting the citizens of New York. Spider-Man truly is New York's friendly neighborhood hero..." Harry heard the news on TV, momentarily distracted.

"Green Goblin? Spider-Man? New York's friendly neighbor? Maybe Spider-Man can find Father?" A thought crossed Harry's mind, but he shook his head, realizing he didn't know Spider-Man's identity or how to contact him.

"Could it be a hidden room? Is Father in a secret room?" Harry wasn't stupid. He quickly considered the possibility and began searching for a hidden switch.
