Chapter 554: Countermeasures by the Two Races

After the Avengers' actions were exposed, vampires and werewolves, who had previously been living independently, started to connect with each other, even setting aside their usual enmity temporarily.

After all, in the face of a life-and-death crisis, such grudges could be set aside temporarily. They could decide whether to continue their hostilities after surviving this ordeal.

Of course, many vampires and werewolves understood that their strength was significantly weaker compared to the Avengers. The images of the vampires and werewolves slaughtered by the Avengers were still vivid in their minds. Some of these fallen comrades were as strong as they were. Since the Avengers could kill them, they posed no threat to the Avengers.

Moreover, the vampires and werewolves had gathered very little useful intelligence. They didn't understand the methods the Avengers used to locate and kill them, leaving them in a particularly passive position.

"What should we do? Are we just going to wait for death?" At this moment, the gathered vampires and werewolves were in a state of chaos, unable to find any way to resist the Avengers.

"What else can we do? You've seen the footage of the Avengers. Their abilities don't scare us much, except maybe that guy Human Torch. Even Iron Man's weapons shouldn't be that easy to kill us with..."

"So there are two possibilities: either we don't know the true strength of the Avengers, or they've discovered our weaknesses and created special weapons to target us!"

Vampires and werewolves were well aware of their weaknesses. Their long history meant their vulnerabilities were well-documented, even in many films and shows.

Thus, the idea that the Avengers could create weapons specifically to counter them was not unimaginable. However, this realization made the prospect of resisting the Avengers even less likely since they couldn't overcome their species' inherent weaknesses.

"So, it seems we can't solve this problem? What are we waiting for? Let's just disperse and go home to wait for death!" A werewolf, irritated by the analysis, stood up, ready to leave.

"Don't think I don't know. You've already bought a ticket to leave America. But do you really think you can escape that easily?" another werewolf sneered, addressing the departing one. "If they can find us here, they can find you anywhere. And you think security checks won't reveal your identity?"

"I don't believe they can recognize every vampire and werewolf!" a vampire retorted. "We look like ordinary humans when we keep our human forms. How could they identify us?"

"What if they have a silver operation table to verify identities at security checks?" a vampire asked, looking around. "You need to verify your identity to leave America. What if the Avengers have prepared for that?"

"Then I'll kill everyone on the spot! How many Avengers are there? I don't believe they can cover every security checkpoint. Even if they do, killing one or two is better than being slaughtered by the Avengers!" the vampire retorted disdainfully.

"I agree with you. We have many clansmen, and if the Avengers want to eliminate us, why shouldn't we fight back?" a powerful vampire said, nodding.

"Previously, we lived independently, not caring about hunters. But now, with the Avengers as a strong external threat, shouldn't we unite?"

"Of course, by unity, I don't mean gathering in one place to be wiped out. I mean we should combine our strength and show the Avengers that if they continue to target us, the whole of humanity will pay a huge price!"

"I support this!" a powerful werewolf said seriously. "Moreover, vampires can create thralls, right? Why not increase our numbers?"

"These humans think we're a different species now? Then let's turn them into monsters like us and see whose society suffers more!"

"Creating thralls and lower-level vampires isn't easy, but we can try," the vampire leader said, looking at those hesitant. "Besides, it's not just us. We could drag the entire dark supernatural world into this fight against the Avengers!"

"That's not easy. The Avengers haven't shown signs of targeting those other beings. Without a clear threat, they won't act..." the werewolf leader said, shaking his head.

"But we can offer bounties to those willing to fight the Avengers. Any disruption helps us and lets us gauge their strength," the vampire leader suggested with a confident smile.

"And if they succeed in causing trouble, the Avengers might retaliate, leading to further conflicts. This could drag the entire dark supernatural world into the fray," the werewolf leader agreed.

"Good plan! I've saved a lot over the years, and I'll contribute too!" the werewolf leader said, looking at the others. "What about you? Will you contribute to our survival and the continuation of our race?"

"Buzz!"

"Buzz!"

As the werewolf leader's words fell, the auras of the vampire and werewolf leaders surged, pressuring everyone and asserting their dominance.

Clearly, the vampire and werewolf leaders had met before and coordinated this display to pull everyone into their plan.

Faced with such powerful pressure, the other vampires and werewolves had no choice but to comply. They couldn't resist the leaders' strength, which gave them the right to lead.

"Boss, what do we do?" a group of werewolves asked a familiar figure in the corner.

"Agree for now. We don't have the strength to negotiate. We need to stay united to survive," Luke sighed, speaking quietly.

As the leader of his werewolf clan, Luke never considered himself strong. His survival had been due to being low-profile and cautious, especially since encountering Robert. Leading so many werewolves felt beyond his capability, as their average strength wasn't much above that of super soldiers.

Therefore, it seemed Luke had no other choice...

Soon, the vampires and werewolves dispersed, having contributed their wealth. Both vampires and werewolves left with heavy hearts. Many werewolves were poor, and even among the vampires, not all were wealthy. Their extravagant lifestyles meant this event nearly drained them.

Not all vampires and werewolves left the secret gathering place. Some, who were familiar with each other, stayed behind. These survivors from the Alexander lineage and other branches had not initially sought revenge but now, seeing the Avengers' actions, felt compelled to act.

Having survived the Avengers' initial purge in Europe, they now saw an opportunity to strike back. Though they might not destroy the Avengers, they aimed to make them pay dearly.

"Avengers, you just wait! We won't let you go!" they vowed, eyes filled with hatred.

Their actions soon took effect, with a series of attacks by vampires and werewolves. These attackers never stayed in one place long, making it hard for the Avengers or local police to catch them.

In response, the sympathetic official agency blamed the Avengers for breaking the balance between humans and supernatural beings, holding them accountable for the attacks.

The Avengers quickly responded, deploying portable silver combat robots and having Moon Knight, Martian Manhunter, and Jarvis search for the vampires and werewolves, initiating a counter-offensive...

"What's wrong with you? You've been out early and back late, looking so tired," Jocelyn asked Luke at home, puzzled. As a werewolf, he should be full of energy, but lately, he seemed exhausted and even stayed out at night, making her suspicious.

"You know I'm the leader of our werewolf clan. There are some things I need to handle. If all goes well, it should be resolved soon," Luke sighed, not revealing the truth. He didn't want to involve Jocelyn or Clarice, as this conflict wasn't their concern...
