Chapter one

I plop on the couch, whipping the sweat from my forehead. It has been such a busy day. My name is Tilly. This is my first year of college, where I am studying to become an elementary school teacher.

I move towards the kitchen, grabbing a bright red apple from the refrigerator. Taking a bite, I remember how I always brought my teacher an apple on the first day of school. This makes me smile. Someday, that will be me.

Flipping on the radio, I listen to music while taking a seat at the kitchen table. I begin my homework. So much math. Too much math. I roll my eyes.

I hear a knock at the door. I feel the smile on my face, hoping it was my boyfriend Logan Dailey. Opening the door, I see him at the other side with that contagious smile.

"Long day?" He asks.

I nod. "Too long."

He walks inside, heading directly towards the kitchen. Opening the refrigerator, I know he'll grab a handful of grapes. I laugh as he throws them into the air, trying to catch them in his mouth.

I sit back at the tabling.

"Solving algebraic equations again?"

"Yeah, that's what happens in advanced algebra." I try to be sarcastic.

Logan laughs, "Yeah, I guess so."

"So have you decided what college you're going to attend?" I stare at Logan, who is tossing more grapes.

"I don't know." He shrugs his shoulders.

"Did you fill out any more applications?"

"Tilly," Logan says, annoyed.

"Sorry," I force a smile.

Logan is so smart. He just has his priorities wrong. In high school, he had acceptable, not great grades because he went to parties. He made sure he kept his C to stay on the football team. He needs to figure out what he wants in life. Where he wants to go and who he'll be.

An hour later, I finish the last math question. My hand hurt from gripping the pencil.

"Are you up for a party tonight?" Logan asks.

I roll my eyes. "Another?"

"Yeah, why not?" He asks.

"Because I have loads of homework to do and two papers due."

"You also need to make time for fun," he tells me.

"You're making a little too much time for fun," I laugh.

"Fine." He says, crossing his arms over his chest.

I move towards him, wrapping my arms around him and laying my head on his chest. He runs his fingers through my hair.

"I love you," he tells me.

"I love you too Logan."

"How about at least a pizza night and a movie?" He asks me.

I nod. "That sounds perfect."
