“Good morning, Aunty Salma,” the maid greeted me as I stepped out of my room to find Dad.
“Good morning, dear! How are you today? How was your night?” I asked cheerfully. “Also, how’s your second maid doing? What’s her name again?”
“Alhamdulillah, I’m doing well, Ma. Her name is Safiya,” she replied kindly.
“Good to hear! How is she settling in? Where is she now?” I inquired.
“She’s doing great and is currently in the kitchen doing some chores,” she answered.
“Alright then. Please give me a few minutes to see Dad, and I’ll return to you shortly,” I said as we approached Dad’s room.
“Salamualaikum,” I announced after knocking and opening the door.
“Waalaikum salam,” Dad and Aunty Jamila replied simultaneously.
“Good morning, sir,” I greeted.
“Good morning, love. How are you?” Dad replied.
“Alhamdulillah, I’m fine,” I answered.
“Please call the maids,” he instructed.
“Of course, sir,” I responded.
