My phone rang with an unfamiliar number, and to my surprise, it was my dad. He explained, "My phone went missing, and I just got a new number. I wanted to let you know before I retrieve my other contacts. Please inform Jamila, in case she’s trying to reach me. She can call me on this number. I only remembered your number, which is why I’m calling you." 


Curious, I asked, "How did it go missing?" 


He replied, slightly frustrated, "Just pass my message along. I'm busy right now. When I get home, we can discuss it further." 


With that, he ended the call. Aunty Jamila was sitting beside me, so I shared what Dad had said, and it sparked a lively conversation throughout the day. 


Jamila asked, "Could you help me dial the number he called you from?" 


I took her phone, entered the number, and called. It rang until it ended, but he didn't answer. I tried again but had the same result. I handed her phone back, saying, "He didn't pick up."
