Replacing the Chef

Avery Miller nibbled at her meal before casting a glance at Eleanor Thompson, asking, "Eleanor Thompson, is this breakfast freshly prepared this morning?"

Eleanor Thompson's vanishing smile resurfaced. "Indeed, Miss. The young master brought in the finest chefs from the Sun City International Hotel, fearing that you might not be accustomed to our cuisine. Hence, the plethora to choose from."

Once Eleanor Thompson finished, the laughter lines around her eyes deepened, as if to convey, "Ms. Miller, just look. You've landed the finest man around. See how well he treats you, calling in numerous chefs to prepare such a lavish breakfast, all because he worries you might not take to it."

Avery Miller offered a light chuckle, yet her heart wasn't truly stirred.
