Opposite Directions

Ethan Montgomery didn't leave his car keys, so Nathan Davis had no choice but to carry Avery Miller out to hail a cab. 

 

Fortunately, they were in the city center where cabs were readily available. 

 

However, Nathan, having been pampered and coddled under the watchful eye of his sister, Emily Davis, since childhood, found carrying Avery quite exhausting.

 

He opened the cab door, gently placed Avery Miller inside, and then climbed in from the other side.

 

"We need to get to the nearest hospital!" Panic was evident on his face; he had never encountered a situation like this before. If anything serious happened to Mrs. Miller, he could kiss his job goodbye!

 

Avery Miller, clutching her abdomen, silently watched the young man who was a few years her junior. Beads of sweat glistened on his forehead as his eyes anxiously fixed on the road ahead, urging the driver to go faster at intervals.
