Seeing Him

The sky had already unveiled a brilliant band of golden yellow, stretching over the hospital across the street and extending to the buildings on the right.

It seemed like an exceptionally beautiful day.

Avery Miller took a deep breath, spreading her arms wide as she stretched luxuriously.

Perhaps it was the anticipation of seeing him that made her heart flutter with excitement, tinged with the bashfulness and restraint of a young girl meeting her lover.

Derek Mason casually washed his face and hurried out.

"Let's go! I'm still half asleep with all this rush!" he said, punctuating his words with a wide yawn.

Avery, in high spirits, didn't bother to argue. After all, it was Derek who had promised to take her to see Ethan Montgomery, and she had never pressured him. A man's word must be his bond, especially for a man of such strong character.
