Derek Mason had been staying in Japan for a considerable time when he mentioned that there were urgent matters back in the States requiring his attention. Thus, after hastily packing his bags, Avery Miller accompanied him to the airport to see him off.

Avery now visits Ethan daily, content to simply watch him from a distance, even though he has not moved from his original position since her first visit.

Mr. Yamada had arranged for her to move to a private room, some distance away from the previous ward. Her injuries had largely healed, and there was no longer a need for her to stay in the hospital.
