Everywhere was calm and peaceful. A small bus was slowly passing by, the driver whistled a song as he drove along.
His eye caught the sight of a young boy by the road as he drove by. He stopped the bus and looked outside his window but didn't see a single living thing.
He scratched his head, confused as he focused back on the road and drove off. He didn't notice the back of the bus was slightly opened.
935 sat comfortably between the crates and containers at the back of the bus.
*****
After a while, the bus drove into a gate leading to a large mansion.
"Did you find the kid?" a tall slim woman asked, she was young and decked in a receptionist's outfit. She was addressing a man who wore a black trench coat.
He looked to be in his thirties and had a huge scar on the side of his face, he wore a hat and the flyer of his coat was up, slightly covering the hideous scar on his face.
"Nope," he said as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes.
"Fuck!" the lady replied "Miss Trisha will be arriving anytime soon, where do we find a child in such a short time" she complained.
"Beats me miss, I just want my money for the work I did" the man replied dryly as he lit a cigarette and put it between his dry-looking lips.
"You little-" the lady started when the bus pulled over by them and horned loudly.
The bus driver came down "Miss Carol" he yelled as he rushed over to them. "I have brought all of the madam's favourite treats as you requested," he said with a smile.
Carol returned the smile "Thanks for doing so on such short notice Bob" she said thanking him.
She turned back to address the man in the trench coat when her eyes caught sight of 935 stepping down from the back of the bus and walking away.
"Who's that?" she asked as she stared at the child walking away.
"I-I I dunno I-" Bob began but Carol walked past him and went straight towards 935. She placed a hand on his shoulder and turned him to face her.
The moment he faced her, he closed his eyes and passed out, quickly she held him, stopping him from falling.
Bob and the man in the trench coat walked up to her
"Is he okay?" Bob asked.
"He's better than okay" Carol said with a smile as she looked up at the two men "He's perfect" she answered with a creepy smile.
Carol had some servants take 935 in and call a doctor for him. She gave the man in a trench coat money before ushering him away.
The man in the trench coat glared at 935 before he left the premises.
Carol asked Bob where he found him, unfortunately, Bob didn't have any information about the child's origins, Carol brushed that aside and gave Bob his pay before bidding him farewell.
Soon after, the doctor came and had a look at him, the servants had washed him up and put clean clothes on him.
The servants that cleaned him up were quite curious as to the blood stains on his shirt, but remembering where they were, they knew quite well what asking questions led to, so they kept their curiosities in check.
As 935 lay unconscious in their care, they cleaned him properly, and cut his nails, they couldn't do much on his hair since he had natural locs, they just washed it down and did small touches on it to make it look cleaner.
As they washed his hair, they washed off the blood that clung to it. Making sure he looked and smelt fresh and clean.
The doctor came and examined him, he assured Carol that he was unconscious because his body seemed to have been under a lot of stress and he just needed to rest.
But Carol requested some tests be done on him. The doctor found it hard to draw blood from him because even in his unconscious state his muscles were still tensed.
Incense was burnt and let to fill the room, helping him ease up a bit, as soon as the doctor drew his blood he left after talking to Carol for a while.
Carol watched the doctor's vehicle drive off, only for another to take its stead.
A black luxurious car stopped before her and she rushed to open the door.
First came out a pair of white high heels, and then a slightly dark-skinned woman stepped out of the car.
"Welcome Miss-"
Carol began but was quickly cut off by the woman "Is my son in?" the woman's voice came out calm and soft as she asked Carol.
"Yes, he is sleeping in his room" Carol answered quickly.
"Oh," she said as she made her way inside with Carol behind her "Where was he?"
"We found him playing out in the snow, he passed out due to the cold I guess" Carol lied, she had a straight face as she spoke.
"Desmond never learns does he?" She asked with a smile.
*YAK!! YAK!!*
Suddenly a small furry dog ran towards the woman and she quickly bent to carry the dog "Well aren't you excited yapper?" she asked as she nuzzled the dog.
"You came just in time, I was on my way to see Desmond, now we can go together," she said in a creepy happy voice as she walked away.
.....
935 opened his eyes, he looked to his left and saw a table full of toys, he cocked a brow as he looked around.
He heard footsteps and immediately closed his eyes.
Miss Trisha walked in with her dog Yapper in her hand, Carol stood by the door, watching as Trisha sat beside 935 looking at him lovingly.
"My sweet little boy," Trisha said as she cupped his cheek "I know you are awake child" Her voice suddenly went stern.
Carol could feel her heart in her mouth when she heard those words.
935 slowly opened his eyes and moved away from her.
"What's wrong with him Carol?" Trisha asked with a frown and faced Carol.
"Ah yes the... er doctor mentioned something about his head," Carol stuttered as she rushed to Trisha's side. "He said he may not remember a few things," she added quickly.
Yapper suddenly starts growling and barking at 935.
"That doesn't make any sense," Trisha said sceptically as she held onto Yapper who was trying so hard to reach 935.
"I agree" The voice in 935's head said.
Trisha suddenly stood up "Make him remember by tomorrow" she said simply before leaving the room.
Carol let out a sigh of relief before she looked over at 935, and he returned the look. They both stayed there staring at each other.
.....
Meanwhile, a couple of soldiers stood far away from the mansion's gate.
"You sure it's in there?" a soldier asked as he stared at the mansion far off in the distance.
"Affirmative commander" the soldier replied as he held a tracking device. "He may have removed the tracker in his ear but I doubt he can remove the other one without help" he added.
"Should we go in?" another soldier asked.
In total there were 4 scouts for 935, they all wore protective gear and masks to hide their faces.
"No!" the commander replied "We must remain discreet" the commander added.
The fourth soldier was using binoculars to look at the mansion. He suddenly put it down and faced the commander "Sir vehicle approaching"
"Stop the vehicle" the commander ordered.
The 3 soldiers stopped the vehicle and brought the doctor out of the car and before the commander.
"Let go of me" the doctor said struggling.
The soldiers knelt him down before the commander.
"Do you have any idea who I work for? If Miss Trisha gets her hands on you, all of you will be-" The doctor's words were swallowed back immediately when a slap landed on his face.
The commander squatted down in front of him and looked him straight in the eye.
