Desmond II

"Do you have any idea who i work for? If Miss Trisha gets her hand on you all of you will be-" the doctors words were swallowed back immediately when a slap landed on his face.

The commander squat down in front of him and looked him straight in the eye.

"Listen here Doc, just answer the questions and you can go scot free, we can even forget any of this ever happened kapeesh?" the commander asked and the doctor quickly nodded.

"Good. Now who did you go to treat?" the commander asked.

"No one, the help just asked me to examine a child they found" the doctor replied quickly.

"Found where?"

"I don't know i swear, i promise you please" the doctor pleaded when he saw doubt in the commander's eyes.

"Okay and?" the commander asked

"That was it, the boy was fine, everything was normal, he was just a bit tired, that's all i told them." the doctor answered.

"Is that all you did Doc?" the commander asked again.

"Well um yes, although i did take some blood samples on the helps insistence" The doctor explained.

"I see," the commander's voice trailed off and he stood up, "That's all then, let him go" the commander added and walked away.

A wave of relief washed over the doctors body "Than-" before he could finish his statement, a soldier walks up to him, placed a gun on his head and fired.

The bullet goes straight down his head and hit the snow beneath him. The doctor's body fell to the side.

"Bury him, and call for backup." The commander ordered as he looked at the mansion "We extract the subject tonight" he added sternly.

.....

Carol walked up to 935 and he immediately creates a distance between them.

"Relax" Carol said calmly. She could see he was in no way going to let her come near him. She sighed and sat on the bed.

"Listen i won't hurt you, infact i have a favour to ask" Carol said with a wry smile. 935 raised an eyebrow at her words.

"She called you Desmond just now" Carol started "Desmond is her son, by now he's about your age. A few years ago he went missing, Trisha went mad in search for him. She blames herself for not being there for him.

Some say she has lost her mind, and maybe they are right" Carol said with a dry chuckle.

"Anyway we normally find a boy that looks like Desmond but, her madness drives them away. Believe me you are not the first boy in this room. Desmond's room" Carol said as she looked around the room.

The room was full of plush toys, not far from the bed were lego sets scattered on the floor beside some toy building blocks.

It looked like a little boys dream room.

"This room was kept exactly the way Desmond left it the day he went missing you know that?" she said as tears filled her eyes.

"Sometimes i still hear his laughter echo in the halls" she said and cleaned her tears. "Can you just play Desmond for a while?" Carol pleaded genuinely.

"Just till she gets better, you can have anything you want i promise, there's so much food you can never go hungry, it's warmer inside than outside in the snow. And you are protected here as well, i assure you your safety" Carol said with a hand on her chest.

"Safety?" 935 thought to himself.

Carol waited for his response, after a few second he nodded in affirmation. She smiled at him, "Thank you, take your time to get adjusted, dinner is in 2 hours" Carol said happily and headed towards the door.

"Although your eyes has more colour than Desmond's i doubt she'll notice" Carol said with a wink and left the room.

.....

As the snow-covered plains shimmered in the soft glow of the setting sun, a tapestry of hues painted the sky. Shades of pink, orange, and purple embraced the serene landscape casting a warm light over the pristine white scape.

The snowflakes sparkled like diamonds, creating a beautiful breathtaking and tranquil scene.

935 looked out the window as the colours danced over the sky.

"So many colours" he thought to himself. He looked further to see a soldier up in a tree, the soldier used binoculars to watch him. He frowned.

"They are here" the voice echoed in his head.

"I won't let them take me back there" he said to the voice in his head.

"But they know where we are" the voice replied.

A smile played by the side of 935's lips "They haven't come for me yet, this means they are waiting for nightfall" he said in his head as he turned away from the window.

A knock on the door caught his attention, he looked at a woman who had on a helpers uniform. She stood by the door with her eyes glued to the ground.

"Miss Carol asked i call you to the dining hall" she said in such a hushed tone that he barely heard her.

.....

A few kilometers away, high up in a tree, a soldier used a pair of binoculars to watch 935. "Subject is on the move." the soldier yelled.

"Okay soldier" the commander yelled. "Get ready to move when the lights go out!" he ordered.

"Yes sir!!!" a group of soldiers yelled back.

.....

935 followed the helper to a dimly lit dining hall, a long table stretched elegantly across the room.

On the table, a feast was spread out, platters of a variety of sumptuous dishes lay across the table, the aroma mingled in the air, like an invitation for anyone to come and savor the culinary feast.

The warm glow of the subdued lighting played off the rich red curtains in the hall.

On the long side of the table a chair was placed and opposite it another, 935 was led to seat on one by the maid before she walked away.

935 looked at the food, it was so inviting, his eyes admired the huge plate of turkey before him and he immediately reached for it.

He pulled out a turkey leg and without haste began to munch on it. He looked to the plate of rice by his side and dug his other hand into it.

He scooped a handful of rice and munched on it together with the turkey.

Far too engrossed in his meal he didn't even notice when Trisha and Carol walked in.

Carol pulled out the chair for Trisha to seat. With a smile Trisha looked at 935, her smile morphed into that of disgust as she watched him eat like an animal that had never been properly fed.

She looked at Carol who had a shocked expression on her face.

"Who brought this unruly beast into my home!!" Trisha yelled as she grabbed a fork and threw it at him.

The fork cut the side of his face and hit the wall far off behind him. It had cut him but the cut healed far too quickly for anyone to notice.

"Ma'am" Carol screamed.

935 froze and looked up, shooting Trisha a menacing dare. But in her frantic state she didn't even notice as she climbed the table and crawled to him.

Trisha lunged for him and he fell backwards with the chair. She sat on him with a hand on his neck.

"You untrained animal, where is my Desmond?!" she screamed as she tightened her grip around his neck "You can't be my child, where is he? Where is my Desmond??!" she yelled.

Carol quickly went around and pushed her off him. A few maids rushed into the room, and put Trisha down, she struggled and screamed, kicking against the ground.

"Take her back to her room" Carol ordered as she pulled 935 up.

The maids dragged Trisha away leaving Carol and 935 in the dining hall.

"Are you okay?" Carol asked as she checked 935's body.

He just looked at her without saying a word.

"Kill her..."
