Safe

935 ate his food quietly, Lily passed and placed something beside his plate. She sat opposite him on the dining and watched as he picked it up and looked at it.

"It's a phone" Lily said softly.

935 gave her a questioning look.

Lily smiled "I want to be certain that you'd be safe okay Kai" she said with a wry smile.

935 watched and listened as she spoke, she told him that the phone was meant for both of them to communicate with each other. After showing him how it worked she then faced the topic of what she saw in the room.

With a corked eyebrow she said "Green eyed freak? That's the best they could come up with?" she asked no one in particular as she filled a glass with water "Who started that shit anyway?"

935 stared at the table and said softly "Billy... he started it."

"And you?" he heard Lily ask and looked at her "You didn't say anything to refute the little shit!" she snarled.

"You said i stay down, i'd rather be quiet and on my own that draw attention to myself" 935 said and stood up, "He may be shit, but i won't act out by meeting him in his level" 935 added before walking away.

Lily smiled as she saw him walk away.

The next day she drove him to school, he stepped out of the car and headed to school, "Hey!" he heard Lily call out to him, he stopped and turned to see her walking towards him.

Lily smiled and took his hands "Here" she sad and placed a Rubik's cube on his hand, "Don't worry, you won't have to endure this much longer okay bud" she said as she ran a hand through his hair, 935 looked at the cube in his hand then back at her.

Lily hugged him "Call me if anything" she said before she stood up and walked back to the car.

.....

The bullying didn't stop, but lucky for anyone 935 didn't retaliate. It surprised 935 how Lily never really complained whenever she had to come pick him up from school in the afternoon.

He found out a bit later that Billy was the son of the Landlord that owned the house he and Lily stayed in. Whenever Lily picked him up from school early, she'd either take him to the diner in the next town or leave him for Doctor Peter.

Doctor Peter although didn't like the idea much, but because of Lily's insistence he agreed anyway. Sometime the doctor would even help out with his school work, though he told Lily that 935 didn't really need any help, he seemed to solve everything on his own just fine.

Peter still asked Lily from time to time if 935 had remembered anything, or acted up in anyway but Lily eased off his worries quickly. Though the fact that Lily asked him to get drugs to help with sleep made him grow suspicious but he later let that go when she told him the reason.

935 was having nightmares that didn't let him sleep well, but after Lily gave him some drugs that he was instructed to take before he slept he stopped having them. He also stopped hearing Entity's voice again.

935 thought that Entity was probably not talking anymore because he was safe.

935's first christmas eve with Lily was nothing like he had ever imagined. She took him to a different town that day and got him cake. To her she was just trying to show him new things, things she thought would be amazing for a kid his age to know, but to 935 it was more than that.

She brought him hope, hope that not everyone or everything tried to kill or experiment on him. He loved the cake as well. Lily took him to an amusement park, and made sure he tried every single thing before they went back home.

Snow fell heavily when Lily pulled up in front of the house, she entered the house with 935 fast asleep in her arms.

Lily gently removed the thick coat he wore and put it on a coat rack by his bedside. She laid 935 down on the bed, and put the blanket over him.

935 opened his eyes slightly and looked at her, she smiled and looked back at him. "Thank you" 935 said softly with a smile.

This was something 935 never thought he'd have the opportunity to say to anyone in particular, but he was glad that if not anyone he told her.

Lily's smile widened as she saw him smile, she placed a kiss on his forehead "Your smile is thanks enough sweetheart" she replied "Now get some sleep, tomorrow is christmas" Lily said and stood up.

935 watched her walk out of the room and shut the door after turning the lights off, he turned and turned on his bedside lamp. He reached for his coat on the rack, he fished his hand inside and brought out picture of him and Lily.

She held him tightly with a bright smile on her face, he smiled at the camera too. The picture was taken at the amusement park they went to, 935 brought out a pen from a cabinet in his bedside table and wrote the date at the back of the picture.

935 had a smile on his face when he slept. The next morning 935 woke up, he stepped out of his room to see Lily doing something under the tree. After a few seconds Lily screamed out "Finally" immediately the lights around the tree came on, along with the lights on the wall.

Lily turned to see 935 looking around the house, "Pretty right" she said as she got up and look around at what she did.

935 nodded, "No work today?" he asked as he walked up to her.

"Nope" she replied "It's the holidays, we'll spend the day together, go freshen up so we can start" Lily added with a smile. 935 got himself cleaned up and joined her in the living room.

Lily put a camera on and sang Christmas songs for 935, she pulled him and and danced with him around the Christmas tree. After that she took him to the dining table, spread across the table were different Christmas treat, from gingerbread men, to striped candy canes, there was even a medium sized gingerbread house in the middle of it all.

Lily videoed him as he tried all the different treats across the table. She taped every reaction he made and how he enjoyed the treats.

When he was done, they watched some movies and played games. Lily even took him to a local town movie theatre to watch something nice. They had fun and returned later in the night. After they had eaten, they moved on to the Christmas tree. There were presents underneath it. 935 picked one up, Lily taped him as he unwrapped the present. He peeled off the wrapper to see...
