Harper was making an ambitiously expansive game, a new type of game with more options than the basic hack-and-slash, where exploration and cleverness were a legitimate course of action, not an extra-hard mode. But he died before he could complete his project. Only to be reborn in that world, as a normal person. Now he is in the world that he created and realizes that he knows things no one else knows, secrets only he knows. Harper sets off to find some of these secrets, wanting to make sure that he has the power to ensure that his world remains pure, that no one will have the power to ruin it like other games. And if the only way to do that is for him to get himself enough magic and mystical artifacts that he can determine the future of the world, then so be it. It wouldn’t be conquest if it was for a good cause. Right?

I notice that the Raptors dont talk to us any more than they have to, and dont include us in their formations. Not that the formation is all that complex. Its basically Orion in the middle, and his four goons surrounding him. They move as a unit. We move a little behind them and just watch at first.


The floor manifests around us as we walk through the arch. It looks like castle walls, lit by torchlight. Were in a short passage, and there are three doors in the hallway. One leading each way, with the arch and exit of the dungeon right behind us.


Rogue! Orion shouts over his shoulder. Come check the door.


Daniel looks at me to see if I have any skill with traps, but I just shrug at him. Id like to have those skills, but I dont think this is the best time to develop them. I can try to pick the lock once hes checked it for traps.
