Alexis
I'm nervous as I see the guys pull into Boone's driveway. I'm finishing up the pasta salad, and he's taking the burgers off the grill. They enter the house, holding covered plates. Boone comes in, and the three men stand around together. I'm feeling very small considering how big they are.
“Guys, you know Alexis. I know it's weird seeing her outside of the bar and all.”
I wave at them. “Actually, I won’t to be at the bar as much as I used. Now that I have a real job, I don’t think I’ll have to work at the bar as much.” My eyes find Boone, and I smile, not divulging that my cutting back was at his suggestion.
“Oh c'mon, Lex,” Barrett groans. “You make the best drinks, and you never let my beer get too low. The other ones over there aren't nearly as good as you.”
“Sorry.” I give him a grin. “I do it for the family, but I don't necessarily enjoy it. You're gonna have to live with it, bud.”
“Damn.”
