The Raid

At one of the secret bases of the Old Satan faction that was located on top of the gloomy mountain range somewhere in the Underworld, it was a quiet and peaceful day as usual for the devil servants of the Old Satan faction that were stationed there as guards.

The sky above the secret base was a constant purple, never changing, which was normal for the inhabitants of the underworld. The air also had the faint scent of brimstone, a scent that most of the Underworld's inhabitants had grown accustomed to over centuries.

As for the base itself, it was built like a fortress with sturdy walls on the mountain. It was once one of the many fortresses that were built as a defense against the enemy invasion in the Great War era and has been long abandoned since. The Old Satan faction was stumped by this place by coincidence before they secretly occupied and utilized it as a secret base.

The base now was covered by an illusion barrier that concealed the entire fortress from the outside view, so no one from the devil's current government even noticed that there was something here, and all of the fortress's records about its location were already destroyed in the war, so the existence of this base was very vague to most of those from the Great War era that might know of it.

On the wall of the fortress, two devils in edgy black armor with many spikes and halberds on their hands are walking along the wall of the fortress as they are on patrol while keeping an eye out for any possible intruder.

Suddenly, the quiet and peaceful day was shattered by a high energy surge that swallowed the entire fortress in a barrier of some kind, alarming all the devil guards at the base as they looked up at the red dome that covered the entire fortress with apprehension.

The alarm bell soon rang through the fortress a couple of seconds later, signaling the emergency, as the guards came back to their senses and immediately filled up the walls and important places around the fortress, their eyes scanning the inside and outside of the walls for any signs of the enemy with vigilant.

"What the hell is going on?!"

Suddenly a male devil with a tall and slender body in a gaudy purple robe and black cape is yelling out loud as he just comes out of the keep of the fortress. His eyes darted around as he assessed the situation outside the keep.

"I need a report now!"

The male devil or the overseer of this base, was quite annoyed at the unexpected situation that disturbed his rest time. His purple eyes narrowed while he looked around the fortress, and after seeing that there was no immediate danger, he then looked up at the red dome, which seemed to be not doing anything other than just keeping them in the barrier with great suspicion and within good reason.

The guards on the wall looked at each other and then at the barrier, their grips tightening on their weapons as they were also not sure what was happening, so they didn't know what to report to the overseer without saying the obvious things such as the barrier suddenly appearing out of nowhere.

Then there was one male devil among the guards who wore a black cape and was highest in the chain of command just below the overseer, with a more composed demeanor than the others, who stepped forward to the front of the Overseer and saluted him.

"Overseer, we have detected no signs of an enemy breach or any other anomalies. The barrier appeared suddenly, and we have not been able to determine its source or purpose just yet."

The overseer's expression grew more severe as he took in the information. He knew that such an event could not be a mere coincidence, well obviously. He then ordered the guards to maintain their positions and stay on high alert, then he attempted to use a spell to notify the main base where their leaders resided of what happened.

"What?!"

Unexpectedly, with a bang, the magic circle that the devil Overseer conjured up instantly went out of control the moment it materialized, and a small explosion exploded in the overseer's face, drawing all the attention of the guards.

"Cough!"

The overseer, unharmed by the explosion but with a bruised ego, wiped off the black soot from his face and snarled like a dog while the devil guards turned to see him because of the sound of the explosion with a blank look on their faces. Did he just mess up a basic spell? Their thoughts in unison.

"Sir...?"

The devil that just reported to the Overseer looked at him with a nervous expression, as what happened just now was quite an embarrassment for any magic user, and he was afraid that this dummy in front of him might try to kill him just to vent.

Fortunately, the overseer just grunted in annoyance before he took a deep breath, trying to calm himself and not outright murder the nervous devil in front of him out of shame.

"Damn it...!"

The Overseer swears as he is smart enough to know that the failure of the communication spell meant that this red dome barrier was not just for show; it was a full-scale containment barrier. They were cut off from the outside world!

"Everyone on guard, full alert! Get me the best mages we have. We need to find out what this barrier is and how we can break it."

The overseer barked his orders with a serious expression, dispelling the awkwardness of the spell failure accident as the guards scurried into action, the failure of the spell earlier reverberating through the thoughts of all the other devils in the fortress; some smart ones already realized how severe the situation they were in.

The hushed whispers grew louder as more guards started to realize the gravity of the situation.

A full-scale containment barrier meant that they were trapped, isolated from the rest of the faction's force, and that almost guaranteed an enemy attack that would soon happen.

The overseer's eyes narrowed as he thought that the attack on the fortress would probably begin soon. He wondered who was the one who was attacking them as he turned around and started walking back to the keep. He didn't want to be out in the open without any cover when the enemy attacked.

"Eh?"

And to his misfortune, he suddenly heard the whistle sounds from above, and when he looked up to see what was making that noise, he immediately saw a black missile dropping in his face.

"Bombardment!!"

Someone screamed, but it was too late. The overseer had to act fast. He raised his hand and conjured a magic shield that just barely covered him and the few guards nearest to him. The rest of the devils didn't have the luxury of his protection and had to rely on their reflexes to dodge the incoming missiles or conjure up their own magic shield.

The sky rained with black missiles, which left a smokey trail behind them. The walls of the fortress utterly failed to provide any protection to the devils inside, who were now forced to endure the barrage.

And then something absolutely terrifying happened the moment when the missiles exploded, as everything that had some magic in them also exploded, just like the missiles' explosion, causing even a bigger explosion in the fortress, and everything erupted in a huge, fiery explosion.

The mountain trembled violently under their feet, the walls of the fortress were blowing away, and the air was filled with the screams of the dying devils. The overseer's magic shield doesn't last even a second, as he and the guards around him are torn apart and cooked alive by the explosion.

The missile bombardment started to die down after half a minute, and the scent of burning flesh and smoke filled the air as the fortress on the mountain was now reduced to piles of rubble.

The overseer, barely alive, was thrown far from the keep and found himself buried under a pile of rocks and debris. His body was scorched, and most of his organs and limbs were as good as gone. He would not last long in this miserable state.

The guards who had survived the initial onslaught were now in a state of daze and confusion, trying to pull themselves out of the rubble, only to be greeted by the eerie silence that followed the bombardment.

÷×÷×÷

Up high in the air of the destroyed base, Yae, who was tasked with leading the company-size assault team on this base, was in awe at the power of the anti-magic missiles that reduced a medium-sized fortress into a rumble just with 32 missiles from two God-Prayers.

( AN: Yae is a clone of Tsubasa. )

"Is this too powerful...?"

She mumbles before she shakes her head and then orders the troops to storm the base through her comlink.

"All units, attack!"

And then the riders of God-Raider immediately dropped themselves as well as the two God-Takers from the two GPs down to the still-alive devils below without any remorse.

"Fuck.."

The poor survived devil guards below can only manage to swear one word before they get crushed by the multi-tonne vehicles falling from the sky.

And for the remaining devil guards that were still not dead, they immediately discovered what true despair feels like when they tried to fight back and then their magic spells suddenly went haywire and exploded just like the Overseer did previously, injuring themselves even more in the process.

Then they get helplessly gunned down systematically by the Geborgs that disembarked from the GTs with Lasgun to the chest and head, just to make sure that they are really dead.
